Chris Coons, Mr. Quick Study
You can’t slip anything past Sen. Chris Coons. He sat for an interview yesterday with WDEL, in which he said — better sit down — that Trump needs to be better informed and that he’s not a king.
“I’ve had direct, in-person conversations with [Trump] about immigration policy, and he, at the time, was strikingly unfamiliar with bipartisan efforts in the Senate to pass a law that would address some of these concerns and issues, and with the underlying process,” Coons said.
The president, uninformed? Who’da thunk it — other that everybody who has been watching Trump for the past three years. Coons also said, “We can’t allow the president to successfully claim, that like a king, he has the right to say nobody gets access to courts or judges.” We can’t allow it? You’re the one in position to do something about it, pal. Why don’t you lean on some of your Republican buddies to speak up against him? I’ll tell you why, sport — because they think you’ve got a “kick me” sign on your back. They say very nice things about your bipartisan comity, and then do whatever they damn well please.
Why does Coons carry only a 48% approval rating? I’d say it’s his complete inability or unwillingness to react appropriately to the crisis level. While Coons pats himself on the back for moving tiny little bills with the help of his GOP pals, America burns.
And it’s not as if Coons is immune to anger. To the contrary, those who have worked for him say he has a temper. Perhaps he’s afraid that revealing anger would undermine his journey to Delaware’s nirvana, complete bipartisan agreement (mostly on how to fuck the rest of us).
A word to the wise, Chris: Anybody who would hold anger about Trump against you is already against you. It’s not like you need the money, so either show us you’re willing to fight the fascists, not just scold them. If you can’t, get the fuck out of the way.
My advice to Coons is the same as my advice for everyone. All your silly posturing makes you look weak. While watching a spineless nothing like Coons get bullied and pushed aside like a freshman nerd is very satisfying in certain ways, his stupidity and cowardice is going to get a lot of people hurt.
By the way, and I suppose you all already know this, these Vichy local politicians should also be shamed and harassed everywhere they go. You know I do it. It’s one of my great pleasures.
Carper and Coons and LBR are collaborators as far as I’m concerned. If they want a better legacy than Maréchal Pétain and Vidkun Quisling they should step up. Otherwise they’re Vichy and should be dealt with accordingly. Complete disrespect and harassment everywhere.
I prefer the rapier to the broadsword. Easier on the arm.
they’re Vichy and should be dealt with accordingly. Complete disrespect and harassment everywhere.
Precisely. Same with Pelosi and our other leaders in the National Party.
