Election Day Thread: What Are You Doing and Seeing?
I’ll start. Headed out to put up Chris and Kerri signs at polling places in the 7th. It’s as humid as bleep out there.

Back from sign duty. I was undecided as to whether to wear my Chris shirt or my Kerri shirt to greet voters at the Gild Hall. Decision was made for me. I was wearing my Chris shirt while putting up the signs. I had one of those Brew Ha Ha sippy coffee cups. Guessed wrong as to which side was open. I’ll be wearing my Kerri shirt.
I like Joe Daigle, and some day I hope to ask him WTF he was thinking this time around. After having had literally NO visibility in the district up until about 10 days ago, he has an obscene number of signs at each polling place. By the time I made it to Forwood Elementary, my last stop, I decided to count. 18 signs at Forwood alone. His signs were easy to spot–for some reason, he only had one side of the sign printed.
A distant second, but with far more signs than anyone but Joe was, wait for it…Rose Izzo.
Welp, time to meet and greet for Kerri and Chris.
I’m at the Gild Hall and…the machines aren’t working. The workers have called DOE
I just woke up.

The signage is actually smart on Daigle. They’re almost completely useless if they’re just splattered around in public. But they are very effective if loaded up at a polling place.
Zero greeters at my poll in Trolley Square. That’s the first time I ever voted there without seeing a few folks. Two other voters; one was having a photo shoot with his baby rock’n a vote sticker 🙂
I waited a few minutes for the Linden Hill school polls to open behind three or four banker-looking dudes.
In my slice of the 9th RD it is tough to tell who is ahead – Johns, Harrington, or Ryan.
The polling place is a Church… Not thrilled.
Lots of signs lining the drive up, and steady inside but not slammed. Voted for Harris, Johnson, Davies.
First time in a voting booth since the Hillary Clinton fiasco, so I didn’t snap a picture like I did that day. Superstitious, I guess.
Now I’m at work and tuned into WDEL hoping for some Loudell updates, but instead I have to listen to some fucking idiot named Susan Monday running a radiothon.

goddamn that wdel trying to raise money for ai dupont hospital and sick kids.
Please. AI DuPont Hospital has a budget of $669 million a year. The radiothon raised about $350,000. The event does a lot more for the radio station than the hospital.
It’s as hot as the surface of the sun outside, and the living envy the dead.
I walked from my polling place 3 blocks to the bus stop this morning at 07:30. Brutal. Sweating like I just ran 5 on 5 full court for 45 minutes.

Drove a block to my polling place in Middletown, the thirty-yard walk to the door was enough to get my old ass sweating! Wife and I both voted to erase the Carp!

No greeters at Blackbird station in Smyrna, not all that many signs. I was the only voter on hand, voted for Kerri, gave Carper’s name a symbolic finger.

I voted at Trolly Square and there was hardly anyone there. I did vote for the sheriff Sam Pratcher. He is a Viet Nam Vet who received a Purple Heart and a Silver Star for bravery. You can’t get much better then that. The other guy did not impress me.
Switched into my newly-laundered Chris Johnson shirt & went back to the Gild Hall for about 45 more minutes. Saw Rose Izzo in person for the first time.
I’d say that turnout is a little slower than usual in Arden, but nothing out of the ordinary. Kerri and Chris will do well here.
I’m wrung out. Nap time.

Just voted @ Rehoboth Sub Station on Coastal Highway. All parking spots filled up front, and my girlfriend and I needed to park in the strip mall lot next door.
Only greeters on-site were for Republican candidates. Poll workers mentioned it’s been steady, but slow, throughout the day. It’s a McGuinness hotbed, so I figured it would be decently busy.
Happily cast my vote for Harris, and know of over a dozen friends who are first time primary voters who did the same!
Hoping her momentum didn’t start too late, and enough new voters decided to hit the polls today to support her!
Good stuff. Keep it coming. Between volunteering and voting, of course.

Ha! Read EVERY day, but such little spare time to write. Appreciate all that each contributor provides. Maybe I’m not the most liberal, but I always find your perspectives enlightening & educational. Keep up the great work. Y’all made me a Harris/Johnson Believer!

I voted at my rinky-dink polling place a little after 9. No greeters, turnout was light. I stopped by Olive Loss Elementary, which is a few different EDs and usually is a Democratic bellweather. There were 2 greeters for Dave Carter and one for Bill Powers. I chatted with all three of them and they were happy to talk politics.
I’m thinking that the after-work rush will be the big bump out here in the ‘burbs.
Decent crowd at McVey in Newark. I didnt see what number i was, but i was in line behind 6 ppl when I got there. Feels like it’s gonna be a good day. (in all honesty, day0 in 2016 just felt off and weird all day…. like something bad was about to happen)
I agree with that – the entire day I was out working for Cathy Cloutier, and the day just felt ominous. In fact, I remember us sitting at Ulysses with her family and close friends to watch the returns, and the place was strangely quiet as the results were beginning to roll in around 9:30. I’ll never forget that feeling on Election Day!
I wonder how Charles Potter and Sam Guy are doing. Are they Demacrate or Republican today?
Lots of Nnamdi greeters out at Mount Pleasant and along Market Street — all looking enthusiastic. Far fewer Potter people.
Interesting to see if Carper looses today and then declares as a write-in candidate tomorrow. He has till September 30th. ugh….

At my polling place in the 35th District, the only presence was from the Rs. Vanderwende and Mitchell greeters were out with a ton of signage. There were a few Truono and Arlett signs.
Not a single indication that there were three statewide Democratic primaries. Just nothing.
Been out knocking on doors all day today for Chris Johnson and getting a really positive response. Now at Pulaski School with a fairly steady stream of voters. I’m feeling cautiously optimistic.
ED 07-06 (Mary Campbell Center) 4:00 pm: Just 3 ppl at that moment, but election worker said turnout has been good, better than usual for an off year, even for a presidential year. Not obvious. No greeters, few signs, no KEH signs there.
Didn’t vote since my rights were revoked after a felony conviction. Kinda sucks. That’s Delaware for you.
We gotta fix that.
Like Jason said, we’re on that, Andrew. It’s a moral injustice for starters. And it’s undemocratic.
Chris Johnson could be a huge leap in those directions.

Delaware: A person convicted of a felony may register and vote if he/she meets the conditions below:
Has completed his/her sentence and
Was not convicted of a disqualifying felony as stated in the State’s Constitution. These felonies are:
Murder or manslaughter, (except vehicular homicide);
Any felony constituting an offense against public administration involving bribery or improper influence or abuse of office, or any like offense under the laws of any state or local jurisdiction, or of the United States, or of the District of Columbia; or
Any felony constituting a sexual offense, or any like offense under the laws of any state or local jurisdiction or of the United States or of the District of Columbia.
I have a Class B felony. Don’t worry, I know why I’m disenfranchised. I’ll try for expungement or pardon or whatever it is in 2026 when I’m eligible I guess.
Voted at Thurgood Marshal Elementary here in Christiana around 1:30. It was quiet, with people trickling in and out, but no lines at all. Chris Johnson and Kathleen Davies had people out (felt sorry for them; it was outrageously hot!!), but no one else. Very few signs out.
While I was signing in, a man next to me was trying to sign in, but the clerk had to refuse him as he was not enrolled. He was giving her a but of a hard time, so I stuck my NY nose in and helped the clerk out by explaining to him that DE has a closed primary system, and only enrolled part members can vote in their respective primaries. Told him it was a good idea, as it keeps people who have no vested interest in the respective party from meddling and/or trying to sneak in the weakest candidate as the nominee of a party they are opposed to. I actually AM a fan of closed primaries for those reasons. It’s like owning a business, putting all your time and effort into building it up, then having some wiseguy walk in and tell you how HE wants things run.
Can’t wait to see what the results are tonight. For the record, this transplanted NYer voted Harris, Johnson, Davies , and the guy who is NOT the sheriff, but is endorsed by Trinidad Navarro.
The one theme that seems to be consistent is that turnout is light–at least in the ED’s that the readers visited.
Haven’t heard anything from the city, except from the Trolley Square folks. I think that that’s where the Harris/Carper race will be decided.
The one upset I will predict? Nnamdi kicks Potter’s butt.
I voted at DelCastle High School this morning around 8:00. I was the only voter there. It was discouraging.
Turnout was pretty light in the city too.
Looks like Sean Lynn crushed the NRA’s candidate.
