Sexual assault allegations about Brett Kavanaugh continue to reveal the uglier side of Republicans, who can’t seem to stop themselves from maligning the woman who raised them.
Keep in mind, these people, just like the rest of us, cannot know what happened at a high school party 30-odd years ago. But none of them, from the lowliest commenter here to the president himself, has hesitated to claim to know the motives of a woman none of them had heard of until last week.
None of them, however, can top the antics of Ed Whelan, who is the president of something called the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Based on his own “sleuthing,” Whelan claimed Blasey Ford likely mixed up Brett Kavanaugh with a Georgetown Prep classmate. Then he posted a photo of the classmate, his Facebook profile, and the location of his high school home, maintaining that the layout of this home fit Christine Blasey Ford’s description of the house where her attack took place. As if Kavanaugh couldn’t also be at the party anyway.
This is the fucking president of an “ethics” center. I’d ask where they find these cretins, but I know damn well where they find them — at America’s rich snot academies. They look for the ones with liquor on their breath and a silver spoon lodged in their cheek.
