Delaware’s Most Important Legislative Race Of 2018

Filed in Delaware, Featured by on September 25, 2018 31 Comments

I was tempted to call this the ‘only’ important race of 2018, but that’s probably an overstatement. However, the contest between incumbent Greg Lavelle and Laura Sturgeon has loads of implications beyond the boundaries of the 4th Senatorial District.  It is not only a referendum on the Delaware Republican Party and one of its leading […]

More like this please

(FL-SEN) ‘Red-Tide Rick’ Scott being booed out of a Gulf Coast restaurant may be the best thing you see today Florida Governor Rick Scott is running scared, as the natives become more and more restless over his disastrous environmental policies that are ravaging our beautiful and fragile watery environments. In Venice, Florida, Scott, who is in […]

Too infectious to ignore. BTW, while most white people covering soul suck at it (*cough* Linda Ronstadt/Heat Wave *cough), Graham Parker more than did justice to this one:

What do Ken Simpler and Brett Kavanaugh have in common?

Filed in National by on September 24, 2018 9 Comments
What do Ken Simpler and Brett Kavanaugh have in common?

Ken Simpler nearly killed a kid at Princeton by plying him with alcohol. “45 students suffered alcohol-induced medical problems” at a party run by Simpler. Princeton Borough prosecutor, Michael Barrett, said “I’ve never been involved in a case with a bartender that produces the hospitalization of 15 people.”  One of Simpler’s underage hazing victims was in a coma for a week.  The judge who sentenced Simpler said, “Only luck prevented death.”

In the end Ken Simpler got a slap on the wrist, then complained that the slap was too hard. Ken Simpler will be the GOP nominee for Governor of Delaware in 2020.

Kavanaugh’s yearbook page gives you an idea of how many chances these guys get. Criminality is the theme, and the contempt…

Get yourself to “Fahrenheit 11/9”

Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 11/9” is a provocative and comedic look at the times in which we live. It will explore the two most important questions of the Trump Era: How the f**k did we get here, and how the f**k do we get out? It’s the film to see before it’s too late.

That’s the distributors blurb. Here’s mine.

Sept. 24 Open Thread: Democrats Thrust the Knife Deeper

Filed in National, Open Thread by on September 24, 2018 12 Comments

I don’t know if Democrats planned all this — my first instinct is they’re not smart enough — but even if Brett Kavanaugh is confirmed to what will become a farcical Keystone Kourt, they already have won more than they lost in this confirmation fight. Not all Republicans are stupid (and no, not all stupid […]

According to Trump, a vote for Ken Simpler is a vote for Trump

Filed in National by on September 24, 2018 12 Comments

A poll came out. They said everybody is going to vote in 2020, because they want to vote for the President. But they are not maybe coming out in 2018. Get out in 2018. Because you are voting for me in 2018. You are voting for me.

You are voting for me.

Second Accuser Creates Kavanaugh Chaos

Filed in National by on September 23, 2018 6 Comments

The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow reports that Democrats are investigating a story from one of Brett Kavanaugh’s freshman classmates at Yale classmate with sketchy memories of a sexually-charged party game. Farrow checked with several classmates she said were there, none of whom recalled the incident. His roommate, James Roche, said he never witnessed Kavanaugh engage […]

Horrible GOP Candidates Show Party Is Dying

Filed in National by on September 23, 2018 7 Comments

Delaware Republicans have been shocked white — well, whiter — by the antics of their congressional nominee, but Scott Walker isn’t an isolated situation. All over the country, GOP candidates, most of them already officeholders, are being exposed as execrable human beings. I’m not talking about the garden-variety graft that goes on in both parties, […]

A first. This song will be reprised on my Fave Tunes Of The Month list.  But it fits the Ford/Kavanaugh controversy so perfectly, it would have been musical malpractice to exclude it:
