“Kathy McGuiness to Drop From Auditors Race Citing Multiple Conflicts of Interest”

The above headline still has, remarkably, not run anywhere. Nevertheless, Spads is hitting the airwaves making this valid point.

James Spadola, the Republican nominee for Delaware State Auditor, attacked his Democratic opponent Kathy McGuiness, citing a conflict of interest over campaign contributions and endorsements accepted from state leaders, the same people she’ll have to hold fiscally accountable if elected.

Spadola appeared on the Dan Gaffney Show Friday morning and said McGuiness has too many conflicts of interest to serve as Auditor, specifically citing a $1,200 campaign contribution she accepted from the Insurance Commissioner.

“If you want an independent fiscal watchdog there’s only one option, and it’s me, James Spadola. If you look at my challenger, she has taken money and endorsements from the same department heads, the same people that she’s supposed to hold accountable,” Spadola said. “Trinidad Navarro, the Insurance Commissioner, donated $1,200 to her and there’s allegations right now about the Insurance Commissioner’s Office.”

Spadola also raised concerns over the several endorsements McGuiness has touted from elected officials, including an endorsement from Wilmington City Council President Hanifa Shabazz, who had to request an audit of the city council last year after it was learned money was directed towards a program that had ties to a former council member.

As much as I want McGuiness to lose because her candidacy is fraudulent, I want Spads to lose because he is a Republican.
