Delaware Liberal

Open Thread For Nov. 15, 2018: About Face(book)!

The ‘failing’ NY Times commits some great journalism, and exposes many of the sins of Facebook in this epic article.  You simply must read the whole thing. Here’s an excerpt to tease you with:

While Mr. Zuckerberg has conducted a public apology tour in the last year, Ms. Sandberg has overseen an aggressive lobbying campaign to combat Facebook’s critics, shift public anger toward rival companies and ward off damaging regulation. Facebook employed a Republican opposition-research firm to discredit activist protesters, in part by linking them to the liberal financier George Soros. It also tapped its business relationships, lobbying a Jewish civil rights group to cast some criticism of the company as anti-Semitic.

Theresa May’s government is falling apart. Fast. Maybe by the end of today. Let us not forget the political dirty tricks, very much like those foisted on us in 2016, that led to the passage of the Brexit referendum.

Another epic story. The blow-by-blow on the Clinton impeachment as told by the people who lived it.

State dragging feet on corrections officers’ negotiations?  Complete with yet more ‘typewriting’ from the Governor’s Office:

A spokesman for Gov. Carney denied the process was deliberately being delayed.

“We’re about to begin bargaining negotiations for Delaware’s probation and parole officers through the Department of Human Resources,” Jonathan Starkey wrote in an email. “Governor Carney understands and appreciates the service that probation and parole officers perform every day. We look forward to hearing their concerns, and reaching an agreement that will result in fair compensation for these officers.”

‘About’ to begin negotiations. After three years of not negotiating. He. Must. Go.
