Enjoy A Great Concert, Have A Complimentary Libation, Courtesy Of El Somnambulo
I’ve got a great concert coming up at the Arden Gild Hall on Saturday, January 12 at 8 pm. If you come to the show, I will pay for your first beverage, alcoholic or otherwise (BTW, I select the wines, and they’re good. I should know, I drink enough of them.)
Leyla McCalla is a truly-compelling artist. A Creole-American based in N’Awlins, Leyla started her career as a member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Upon going out on her own, her first album promptly won ‘Album Of The Year’ honors. She plays cello, banjo, and guitar. She sings in English, French, and Creole, which she calls a ‘language of liberation’. Her latest album, Capitalist Blues, was recorded in N’Awlins. She will bring a full band with her to the Hall. Here are a few tastes:
This feature came out as Leyla was preparing her first solo album, which was in large part based on the poetry of Langston Hughes:
This is the title song from her second album, A Day For The Hunter, A Day For the Prey:
Finally, here is the title track from her upcoming album:
Award-winning mid-Atlantic singer/songwriter Kipyn Martin will open.
If interested, you can either send an e-mail to the tip line and we’ll set you up. Or, you can get tickets directly here. Tickets should also be available at the box office (we only do cash or check there.) I, of course, will be there on show night. Hey, I’m the producer, I’d better be. Just tell the box office, the door guy, or me that El Somnambulo sent you, and we’ll fix you up with a nice beverage. I hope to see you at the Gild Hall on the 12th.
We should all buy YOU your first (and second, and third) drinks for the great concert tip! Thanks El Somm!
Comrade, clearly.
Why, yes, yes you should.
Producer gets to drink for free, though…I usually just have a little wine since I’ve gotta pay the artists at the end of the night.
This seems like an amazing deal, how in the world do you do it?!
Heh. Heh-heh. I don’t know. I’m just tremendously gifted, I guess.
Just clicked through the videos. I’m coming to this.
Probably know a dozen people interested.
Nice one, Steve … Have to say the free drink caught my attention, but I have a soft spot.fir NOLA artists.
Kids, we’re officially sold out! I know that some of you are coming tomorrow. Please stop by and say ‘hi’, and don’t forget, mention my name and get a complimentary drink.
