MLK Day & I Love Kamala Harris – Open Thread

Filed in National by on January 21, 2019

“I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic. And yet I am not so opposed to capitalism that I have failed to see its relative merits. It started out with a noble and high motive, viz, to block the trade monopolies of nobles, but like most human systems, it falls victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So today capitalism has outlived its usefulness. It has brought about a system that takes necessities from the masses to give luxuries to the classes.”

Senator Kamala Harris has announced that she is running for President.

Also – Lt. Governor Hall-Long had a good statement a week or so back, upon the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment:

“No protection against discrimination is unacceptable. Equal means equal. From the gender pay gap to workplace discrimination, women deserve to have the same opportunities and rights as men. End of story.”

More like this, please.

Why do you love Kamala Harris? She seems to me to be another establishment Democrat who never support social necessities like single payer universal healthcare.

    Good MLK quotation.

Fair question. I love all the Dems running for President even though some will be lacking in one area or another.

Basically I’m ready to go for war for whoever Dems nominate provided the process is fair and transparent.

Social media and the internet can be like a hornet’s nest. They say if you throw rocks at a hornet nest, you deserve to get stung. Sometimes you just get stung anyway. Wrong place wrong time. Just ask that kid in the MAGA hat.

  3. RE Vanella says:

“King … ‘made it clear … he considered himself what he termed a Marxist, largely because he believed with increasing strength that American society needed radical redistribution of wealth and economic power to achieve even a rough form of social justice’ (1981: 213–214).”

I would use a slingshot and shoot crab apples at the black hornet’s nest hanging from the roof of my neighbor’s house.
