Well off, liberally inclined idiots
On the long list of terrible gifts you can give your children – measles is right at the top.
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Clark County Health officials say the number of confirmed measles cases has grown to 30. The county released the updated outbreak numbers Thursday morning, saying the number of suspected cases has dropped to nine.
There are liberal morons for sure like that guy alby who I think escaped a institution
The headline was from before I looked up the demographics of Clark County.
Turns out… not very well off, probably conservative idiots.
I don’t know any anti vaxers, not complaining. Don’t know any liberally inclined idiots either, a few assorted PITA but that’s about it. True stupidity always seems to devolve to the lower level of the Republicans. Outward signs include scruffy beard, an F150, camouflage as daily wear and lack of a high school degree.

Such a sheltered life you lead, Bamboozler. Get out and meet the peeps, like PETA folk (PITA is a bread) or wild-eyed immigration-for-all zealots. Anti-vaxers are all over the place, having made tremendous strides in gutting public health laws by railing against herd vaccinations. This stuff is not limited to any one class or drivers of any particular vehicle.
Looking more into this, it seems my headline holds up. The “well off” part anyway.
“Several studies have found that recent outbreaks among unvaccinated populations have been clustered among upper and middle-income populations.
These studies reveal that anti-vaxxers have very particular forms of cultural capital, as they are mostly highly educated, with mid- to upper-level incomes. It is quite possible that for anti-vaxxers, a confluence of educational, economic, and racial privilege produces the belief that one knows better than the scientific and medical communities at large, and a blindness to the negative implications that one’s actions may have on others.
Unfortunately, the costs to society and to those without economic security are potentially quite great. Per the studies cited above, those opting out of vaccines for their children put at risk those who are unvaccinated due to limited access to material resources and health care–a population composed primarily of children living in poverty, many of whom are racial minorities. This means that wealthy, white, highly educated anti-vaccination parents are mostly putting at risk the health of poor, unvaccinated children. Viewed this way, the anti-vaxxer issue looks a lot like arrogant privilege running rogue over the structurally oppressed.
In the wake of the 2015 California measles outbreak, the American Academy of Pediatrics released this statement urging vaccination, and reminds parents of the very serious and potentially fatal outcomes of contracting preventable diseases like measles.”
Unfortunately, the Govt did itself no favors on the vaccine front by forcing military service members to act as guinea pigs for its anthrax vaccine, even after it became apparent there could be severe side effects. There is a lot of distrust out there.
The people I know who don’t vaccinate are from all political and economic stripes. But the educated ones who should know better are definitely the most annoying.
Vaccinate your kids, dummies.
