Top Donald Trump primary challengers
While a primary challenge is probably political suicide given the empty-headed religious zeal of is bedrock base, the President is historically unpopular. That is a fact.
If Trump continues to look uncompetitive in 2020, someone is going to be drawn into a primary. According to the oddsmakers, these are the most probable primary challengers.
John Kasich 48%
Mike Pence 12%
Nikki Haley 11%
Ted Cruz 11%
Paul Ryan 11%
Bob Corker 10%
Joseph Scarborough 8%
Mark Cuban 7%
Steve Bannon 3%
No Nikki Haley? I’d put her at or near the top of the list.
Oops. She is up there.

There are really two questions that get smashed together.
1) Will someone primary the President?
2) Will Trump fail to become a candidate for the nomination, for whatever reason?
If you think Trump will be impeached or quit, there is a set of possible candidates, but if you think Trump is going to run in 2020, there is a different (much smaller) set of candidates.
The RNC is trying to rig 2020 for Trump already:

We, uh, know how well that goes over.
If the economy takes a nose dive there will be candidates a plenty, or if Mueller’s investigation is as devastating as we all hope it is. But without Trump’s base they are nothing, and they well know it.
Pence could peel away the MAGATs
Read El Som’s link. There will be no Republican primaries unless Trump is removed before that.
“While the resolution is largely symbolic…”
But Yeah. I agree. If Trump is still standing, he is the nominee. The RNC sees (rightly) that an internecine fight for the nomination would be worse for the party than running Trump again.
And yet, the President is historically unpopular, so anything can happen.
imma leave the magat peeling to Ramsay Bolton
Since nobody here but us Democrats, what’s for us to care or do about a Republican primary?
“nobody here but us Democrats”
Do you never tire of being wrong? Have you never read the comments?
Your own preference for ignorance is just that.
Nobody here but us Democrats and other liberals plus a few individuals affected with dementia, not necessarily age related.
And the socialist left!
You are confusing individuals that support social justice with socialism. Big difference but most in the radical right in this country are not intelligent enough to distinguish the difference.
I was talking about myself. I feel pretty clear about where I’m coming from. I’m a socialist and a Marxist. I believe this leads to social justice.
The lurkers come from all over the spectrum.
Per new WaPo/ ABC poll: Majorities of independents (59%), women (64%) and suburbanites (56%) rule out supporting Trump for a second term.
Nearly 1 in 3 Rs say they would like to nominate someone other than Trump to be the GOP candidate for president.
