President Sean Hannity Really Doesn’t Like the Bipartisan Border Deal

Filed in National by on February 13, 2019

Yesterday President Hannity said, “By the way, on this new so-called compromise, I’m getting details. $1.3 billion? That’s not even a wall, a barrier… We will get back into this tomorrow. Any Republican that supports this garbage compromise, you will have to explain—look at this crowd, look at the country.”

Today the House “Freedom Caucus” had a nervous breakdown.

The House Freedom Caucus on Wednesday introduced a short-term spending bill to keep the government open for an extra week as lawmakers weigh this week’s bipartisan border deal that the conservative hardliners find “frustrating.”

“Like many of my colleagues, I am frustrated that this current proposal ignores input from experts on our southern border,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), the proposal’s sponsor, said in a statement. “I introduced this short-term continuing resolution — a spending bill — to provide time to negotiate more effective border security without the threat of another government shutdown.”

As of ten hours ago, it looks like Trump is going to defy President Hannity.

I suspect Trump is looking for the poison pill — perhaps the extension of the Violence Against Women Act? — inserted into the bill to use as justification for a veto that would also enable him to blame the Democrats, even if Senate Republicans vote for the plan.
He has no interest in or desire for governing. All he wants is an excuse to shout and scream.
