I Love Bernie Sanders

Filed in National by on February 19, 2019

It is official. The guy who created the platform that all of the Dems in primary field are running on has made it official. I also love any Democrat who wins the nomination provided the contest is fair and transparent. And if you think that way to support your favorite candidate is to try and tear down someone else’s you can fuck the hell off. Seriously.

The Democratic National Convention will be held July 13-16, 2020. That’s 17 months away. So if you think you can spend the next 17 months here doing Trump’s and Putin’s work for them – you will be in for a rude awakening.

    Hmmm…

Tulsi Gabbard announced her candidacy this February 2, but no “I Love Tulsi Gabbard Post” from DL so far.

    How come ?

    • Alby says:

Because other than being “anti-war” — which she’s not really, as she’s all in favor of the “war” on Muslims — she’s not particularly well-suited to the moment for Democrats.

She’s a non-factor, and she runs a strong risk of losing her seat in Congress. Maybe Cynthia McKinney can get her a job at that university in Bangladesh. Oh, wait, that’s a Muslim country…

    • RE Vanella says:

Because we don’t like Tulsi Gabbard.

I don’t like her simpatico relationship with Modi & Hindu fascists.

I don’t like her love of the drone war.

She also ‘both-sided’ the shutdown a few weeks ago.

You do you, brah. I think Tulsi is trash. Dumb dumb stuff. Jimmy Dore stuff.

      • delacrat says:

Oh, She met with the head of state from where a parent is from. The thing is, nobody thinks anything if a Jewish congressperson meets with Netanyahu, who is no less a thug than Modi. GMAFB

        • Alby says:

You keep throwing up these what-abouts as justification. It’s not. You argue like a child.

Last chance. Grow the fuck up or be gone.

    • jason330 says:

A fair question. I think it was because she announced on a Saturday.

  2. RE Vanella says:

Go check out how much money he raised today from small donors.

He has an army of 1MM+ volunteers.

    He is widely admired.

    And he isn’t even a Democrat™!

  3. Arthur says:

i think hes too old. id rather see him with someone 25 years younger with the same agenda that he can get behind and support

  4. RE Vanella says:

I’d rather a lot of things. But Bernie’s the best we have. Great policies and a consistent message for 40 years. That’s leadership, folks.

    • Alby says:

Get ready to hear a lot of this. After all, he gets older every day.

Meanwhile, it’s not just delacrat on the Tulsi bandwagon today; there’s a piece a Daily Kos claiming that Democrats are so afraid of her that they’ve taken it upon themselves to sabotage her campaign.

This is pro-Russia trolling, folks — people claiming they care most of all about ending American involvement in wars around the globe. A worthy goal — except not at all costs, and that’s exactly what such people are advocating.

A world without a global American military footprint is one that opens the doors to hegemony from other countries. The delacrat/Gabbard/Russia position is, in a word, bullshit. The pre-Trump Republicrat approach to Russia threatened to choke it to death, particularly if we move away from petroleum, Russia’s only asset.

People like this presumably don’t mind future generations dying as the climate changes, just so long as they don’t die in a war. The position is bullshit right there on its face.

      • delacrat says:

        Christ, where to begin…

“…ending American wars around the globe. A worthy goal — except not at all costs, “ – alby

And you want to perpetuate American wars, whatever the costs.

“A world without a global American military footprint is one that opens the doors to hegemony from other countries. “ – alby

So you’re neo-Domino theoretician, remember how many GI’s are deaths were rationalized with that version of the slippery-slope fallacy? Or don’t you care?

        • Alby says:

“And you want to perpetuate American wars, whatever the costs.”

False logic. My rejection of your absolutism does not mean I am an absolutist. You better start building stronger straw men.

          “So you’re neo-Domino theoretician”

Nope. See above. You have gotten away for a long time without explaining yourself. That ends if you keep up this slanderous bullshit.

Either argue honestly or get the fuck out of here.

        • Alby says:

For everyone else, I want you to notice that there’s no explanation of his position, just insults for those who disagree with it.

Also notice that he doesn’t give a fuck if other people die — it’s just Americans he’s worried about.

How curious that this position lines up with very few Americans, but lots of Putinites.

          • Jason330 says:

Yeah I should just go ahead and pull the plug. There is no way RussiaBot is going to add anything of value.

          • delacrat says:

“A world without a global American military footprint is one that opens the doors to hegemony from other countries. “ – alby

“A global American military footprint” or the Project for a New American Century.

“Also notice that he(delacrat) doesn’t give a fuck if other people die — it’s just Americans he’s worried about.” – alby

It’s someone who wants a “global American military footprint” and surely knows the misery and death that most recently entailed, doesn’t give a fuck if other people die.

            • Alby says:

You don’t give a fuck if other people die. Other people are dying in the Ukraine. I don’t hear any lamentations from you.

If Russia reassembles its Soviet empire, people will die. Do they not count?

As for “giving a fuck if other people die,” this is the kind of shit you’ve been dealing in for 10 years. It’s ignorant. I don’t give a fuck about your morality. I ask for arguments to support your position and all you ever respond with is this kind of morality-shaming.

Either engage intellectually or you’re banned, buddy. I addressed lots of things to you directly, and you won’t answer them. Never have. Do so or buh-bye.

    • Stat says:

40 years of not getting your policies passed is leadership? When he gave up the stage to BLM protestors in the last campaign it showed all you need to know. Weak. No leader.

  5. RE Vanella says:

West Virginia Teachers strike and win again.

Hat tip for an assist from Putnam County, WV bus drivers. Superintendent tried to keep the one county open (all other 54 had closed). So the bus drivers walked off!

    Solidarity forever. So much winning.

  6. donviti says:

He’s laid the groundwork for a woman to actually win this time around assuming the woman that wins does so honestly and without the help of folks not taking into consideration actual voters in entire states.

Gonna be interesting to see if they piss off the youth vote this time around and if they learned anything from doing so.

Ok, so I just talked myself into assuming Trump gets re-elected. God we’re so fucked

    • jason330 says:

Many Democrats based in DC consulting shops think that not ignoring Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, and Wisconsin means that you MUST ignore Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

What I like about Bernie is that he wants to win in every state.

      • donviti says:

We need to run to the center though, and gosh those folks in teh rust belt and bible belt, and freedom belt, and america belt, sure aren’t gonna wanna hear a liberal telling him that he deserves free health care and college. Hard working americans just wont buy into those sorts of radical left wing socialistic ideals.

        • jason330 says:

Yep. Also, they all liked Freddie Mercury before he got so gay. So we’ll need to edit the gay parts out of Bohemian Rhapsody, or else provoke them.

  7. John Kowalko says:

Just sent Bernie a contribution and offer to volunteer. I LOVE BERNIE! (because he stands for things that are important to me and because he develops and messages legitimate policies and ideas.) NO FEAR, NO IDEOLOGICAL/illogical stupidity and pandering only pure IDEALISM. Go Bernie. Screw the status-quo preservationists and their corporate controlled friends.
    Representative John Kowalko

  8. Dana says:

This being Senator Sanders’ second attempt to win the Democratic presidential nomination, I think it’s reasonable to ask: why doesn’t he identify as a Democrat?

He’s always listed as an independent, even though he caucuses with the Democrats, and the Democrats never have anyone seeking the Democratic nomination for Senate in Vermont against him.

It’s as though Mr Sanders wants stuff from the Democrats, but is ashamed to call himself one. Can’t say that I blame him: I’d be pretty embarrassed if I were a Democrat myself.

    • John Kowalko says:

      Dana
And I would also be embarrassed if you were a Democrat.
      Representative John Kowalko

    • donviti says:

If you are going to plagiarize, at least give the right wing echo chamber you stole this from a little credit

  9. Jason330 says:

Wow. That’s some weak ass trolling, even by your debased standards.

  10. RE Vanella says:

    I love John Kowalko.

    John… Come on the podcast.

  11. Dave says:

With a field this large there are plenty of candidates for everyone to find someone to love. This is only a problem when 12 or so months down the road, the love has evolved from passion into obsession and in the waning moments of the campaign the obsessed let go of their unrequited love, reluctantly shifting to the front runner, but still publically pining for their former love, hoping against hope that some force shifts the tide back to their chosen one.

In my opinion, the probability of a Trump second term is directly proportional to the degree of obsession exhibited by likely voters.
