I Love Michael Bloomberg and Sherrod Brown
I love the good judgment shown by politicians who explored running for president and thought better of it.
This week billionaire centrist and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he’ll forgo a run to focus on funding Democrats, presumably centrist ones.
According to the New York Times story, “Polling and focus groups found that Mr. Bloomberg had a path to the Democratic nomination, his advisers said, but that he would likely struggle to compete if Mr. Biden were to run.”
Sen. Sherrod Brown spent a year visiting the early primary states pitching a campaign built on “the dignity of work,” a concept that failed to drum up enough excitement to entice him to risk his Senate seat on a long-shot candidacy. He, too, announced the decision this week.
So it seems Joe Biden has cleared the field of old white guys, which should help him stand out on a crowded debate stage.
OH MY God, save us from Biden’s “Great White Hope” campaign if that’s what he is thinking.
