Biden, Stacey Abrams Hold Private Meeting
The Associated Press reported that Stacey Abrams, who lost the Georgia governor’s office in a race tainted by voter suppression, and Joe Biden held a private meeting in Washington on Thursday. Spokesmen on both sides were close-mouthed, but it’s not too hard to guess that the 2020 presidential race was on the agenda.
According to AP, a person close to Abrams confirmed the meeting, saying it was set at Biden’s request. The meeting took place after Abrams had breakfast with another Democratic presidential hopeful, Kirsten Gillibrand, who tweeted a picture of them together. Democratic poobahs want Abrams to run for Senate, something she doesn’t seem all that keen on, while she has speculated about jumping into the presidential race.
Announcing a run and a running mate at the same time would be a bold stroke. I don’t know if old Joe has it in him though.
When St. Ronnie of Hollywood almost primaried President Ford in 1976 he announced Sen. Richard Schweiker (R-PA) as his running mate. That was unprecedented. Senator Schweiker factoid: He married the host of the Philly kid’s show Miss Claire from “Romper Room” in 1955.
I was 4 years old back in 1955. Miss Claire was hot.
I’d love to see him announce Stacey Abrams as a running mate. And if it means Biden isn’t going to be running a “great white hope” themed campaign, I’d be relieved.
Can’t imagine that happening. With all the minorities in the race, I think she’d be committing political suicide.
Now, if Joe volunteered to be HER choice for VP, well, that’d be different.
Joe looked tired this week at Janseens. He’s made his ill-gotten fortune off taxpayers. He would be smart to fade into the sunset.
