April Fool’s Day Has Been Cancelled

Filed in National by on April 1, 2019

I don’t know about Alby or El Som, but I have no stomach for April Fools.   We are in April Fools year, this year.  Every passing day brings new headlines that would have sounded like comedic hyperbole a mere five years ago.  The most outlandish affronts to our Democracy can’t get a rise our of our congressional delegation in this hijinx strewn landscape.

Carving out a single day to celebrate pranks seems like piling on when our whole economic and political system has been turned into one huge prank.

The way I feel about it is that nobody will ever top George Plimpton’s April Fool’s joke in the Sports Illustrated issue of April 1, 1985. “The Curious Case of Sidd Finch,” the story of an enigmatic mystic who could throw a baseball 168 mph, actually fooled a lot of people, especially Mets fans.

That was great because it was in an actual magazine a 10 year old me fetched for the mailbox.

Here’s a good one for April Fools.

Wherein a privileged white lady argues that we should do more coups! Of course our past coups should “give us pause”, but not pause long enough not to name the same vile devil pardoned felon as coup czar!

Also, the writer’s father works for the international monetary fund and is closely connected with the shadow government.

She forgot to mention this. I guess it was just an honest oversight.

If you trust the Trump administration to manage an intervention of any sort, I have serious questions about your cognitive abilities.

      Also…A “Venezuelan-American comic” ? Fake news. I didn’t laugh once.

Here ya go – Matt Meyer’s April 1st screed on behalf of the Business Roundtable and Carney no doubt in tow – Red-lined version of “Matt Meyer is Paul Clark on steroids”….I miss Kavips right about now. If this ordinance goes through, NCC is going to get royally screwed.

Nancy: Any word on what project this was designed for? They don’t usually put these ideas forward on spec.
