Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins wrote this together, or rather, McDonald started it and Loggins finished it by adding the bridge. Loggins recorded his version first, for his second solo album.
McDonald recorded it with the Doobie Brothers. Their version became a No. 1 hit in 1979.
