Delaware Liberal

Jason Ricci, His Band…AND A Complimentary Libation! And One More Thing…

Not only are you gonna see the greatest blues harp (aka harmonica) player in the world with his band, not only are you getting a great opener in Reed Turchi, but now your first libation will be compliments of moi, El Somnambulo. When you show up at the concert, mention my name (I’ll be there) and we’ll fix you up. Beer, wine or a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. Just the first one though…

The date is Saturday, April 13 at 8 pm, the place is the Arden Gild Hall. Your host and MC will be me.  In case you missed it when I first posted it, here’s why any serious music fan would want to see Jason:

Jason Ricci is the reigning, and 2-time, Blues Music Award Winner for Best Harmonica. He is also one of very few openly-gay blues musicians, and he doesn’t hesitate to flaunt it.  He also may be the single most hilarious performer we’ve ever had on the Gild Hall stage. He played harmonica for Paul Butterfield’s induction into the Rock ‘N Roll Hall Of Fame. He was the harp player on Johnny Winter’s Grammy Award-winning album, “Step Back”.  He is by far the most-in-demand for his online harmonica lessons. No one’s even a close second.

You can get tickets at: ardenconcerts.com, at Between Books in Claymont, or, if you don’t want to pay the online fee at the Arden Concerts site, just send me a note on the tipline and I’ll reserve your tickets at the box office. In case you’ve forgotten what he sounds like:

And now one more thing. I’ve also got a great show on Friday, May 10. His name is (well, it’s not his real name) The Suitcase Junket, and he’s an amazing one-man band.

Here’s the One More Thing: You don’t have to take my word for it.  He will be appearing on tomorrow’s (Wednesday, April 3) session of the World Cafe on WXPN at 2 pm.  We had him here as an opener a couple of years ago, and everybody clamored for me to bring him back as a headliner. Now he’s got a brand new album which could well be his breakthrough, and with WXPN on board,  we’re looking for big things.
