Should Americans Without Passports be Allowed to Vote?

Filed in National by on June 5, 2019

There is a very high level of stupidity in the comments around the idea of “socialism” and I think it is a stupidity that can be tracked to people who have rarely traveled outside of Delaware, and never traveled outside of the United States.

I may be wrong, but I’m not going to waste my time trying to educate these nit wits and losers about the workings of the modern world outside our borders.

Know why those countries are so happy? They don’t have to share their countries with the descendants of slave owners.

  2. RE Vanella says:

I’m an expand the franchise type of dude, so more democracy is better. Voting should be mandatory. See also Australia, Argentina, Belgium, Peru, Uruguay.

It’s our responsibility to make the case. If you think the wealth of this country was amassed via incentives to hard work you’re just grossly misinformed about history.

The single greatest mechanism of private wealth accumulation in the US is real estate/inheritance.

    Don’t be rubes, everyone!

While there have been recent challengers Socialism is perhaps the most abused political term in existence, and is used relentlessly by the Republicans to get their mouth breathers salivating. Love to remind older conservatives that Social Security and Medicare constitute Socialism at it’s best, the response is mostly dim witted denial, but once in a while I can get a tiny light to come on.

    • Alby says:

This is a good point. At its root, insurance is essentially socialistic.

      • RE Vanella says:

Correct. But instead of large group pools to protect people’s health, the large pools are to protect private capital.

Private insurance uses the tenets of socialism to hoard capital!

        Incentives for hard work!

Interestingly those top 10 countries have one thing in common – not very diverse

    • RE Vanella says:

      Trope. Old one too. Neat.

It’s not really true. But to the extent it is (it does manifest social/political friction) the argument is that we have to accept persistent, rampant racism.

      I don’t accept it.

      • Arthur says:

over 90% of their populations are eastern european decent. and like people tend to stay with like people. you dont have to accept it but its the facts

  5. RE Vanella says:

Mid 19th century plantation owners owned human beings like horses and farm equipment. These are facts, folks.

    I’m very smart.
