Finally, the News-Journal has a superb subscriber-only story, written by Karl Baker and Sarah Gamard, that details how the newly-approved Kent County lodging tax is to go primarily to an entity that Trey Paradee’s brother has a major interest in. Paradee sponsored the legislation, and the oleaginous Nancy Cook pushed behind the scenes for its passage. It’s worth the subscription. Or the purchase. The Kent County Democratic Party is controlled by self-dealing insiders. Newcomers not welcome. Kinda reminds me of the Gene Reed days in NCC, lacking only the money in shoeboxes. That must change.

In the 1979 Canadian federal election, the Rhinoceros Party of Canada, a (satirical?) federal political party, included annexation of the United States as part of its platform. It was proposed that the United States become the third territory of Canada. I wish it had worked.

Letting that disaster of a human(???) enter anywhere would be preferable to him staying in America spewing his hatred and vitriol and divisive rhetoric that betrays American values. And it’s going to a private entity that Trey Paradee’s brother is involved with. Not to, you know, the places that provide lodging.
Wait, what’s a lodging tax? I thought it was a tax on hotel rooms. Why would that go back to the entity that pays the tax? Why doesn’t it go to the general fund like Wilmington’s does?
It’s supposed to go to the county. However Paradee’s bill had specific language inserted into it to earmark the revenue to benefit his brother’s private entity.

Ok. Buying Greenland is nuts. What about the Arctic? As ice melts, we uncover a variety of important resources, recent articles have underlined that Russia, an adversary has more access than the US does, due to their huge Arctic coastline. Were Greenland part of the US, our access to the Arctic would greatly increase. I’m not saying that Trump ever considered any of this, but you must wonder what the Danes would consider a reasonable offer. Hahaha.
We could sell the meltwater as Greenland-pure, but oops! It’s already polluted. Sad.
