Trump to face a primary challenger?
I’d put the odds in the 100:1 range, but you know what? Extreme longshots sometimes come in. Just look at Trump’s longshot victory.
Former congressman and tea-partier-turned-Trump-critic Joe Walsh said Wednesday that if he does enter the primary against President Donald Trump, he’ll do it “soon.”
According to Politico, sources close to Walsh said he plans to announce this weekend.
“I’ve been really surprised by the amount of anxiousness from people across the spectrum who want this president to have a challenge, because there’s just a real concern that he’s absolutely unfit,” Walsh said. “I think if there is an alternative out there, the money will follow.”
So far, only former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld has formally launched a primary challenge against the President.
Suspect Walsh is a “Looka’ Me!” has been bid for attention, hope he does well enough to plague Trump unto misery.
If he enters, that will plague Trump unto misery. Because Walsh is an attention whore, just like Trump. And he’ll be on the air constantly. Ohpleaseohplease, let this happen.
There are two kinds of Trump supporters. The first are those who don’t like the way Trump acts, but like what he does. The second are those who like how he acts and don’t care what he does. I’m pretty sure that encompasses just about 90% or more of the possible GOP voters. Which leaves a smidgen of possible voters who coud welcome a primary challenge. There will be no serious challenge to Trump within his party.
A good number of conservatives decry the moral degradation of society as a root cause of much of society’s ills. Yet, they support a person in the White House who epitomizes the exact moral degradation they rail against. I suppose in their minds, the end justifies the means. Still the GOP’s character has always been infused with hypocrisy.
62% overall disapproval. Of course among Republicans it is sky high, and yet that is a number that will have some Republicans thinking about what happens post-Trump
This could have true entertainment value. Walsh is trying to get Kellyanne Conway’s husband to sign on to the campaign:
