Where are we with cannabis in Delaware?

Filed in National by on August 27, 2019

I’m seriously asking. Has it been legalized? I don’t partake, so I don’t pay very close attention to this, but I know some people who are very unguarded about their cannabis use.

Of course, they are white and as John Mulaney says, pot has been legal for white people for a while. What about for the rest of Delaware? It is time to get the bong pipe out and roll up a doobie?

To the people who want marijuana legalized…Be careful what you wish for. I get the feeling that law enforcement , legislators and lobbyists who oppose legalization will be vindictive in their approach. Legalization won’t happen without certain concessions and those concessions may make you think you were better off when it wasn’t legal….This is Delaware we are talking about.

I have no doubt that the people you mention will try to be total assholes about it. What else is new?
Why not make them be assholes in the light of day, then beat them in elections.

I cant beleive it, but I completely agree with you, RSE.
the current “legalization” law seem written by the 3 entities who will be allowed to grow and sell.

      Eff that noise.

Unless the law makes the purchasing experience… cost and all… the same or better than the current situation, nothing will change. And let me tell you, the market is pretty flooded. The purchasing experience is grand (and if anyone charges you more than $50/ 8th, youre getting horribly ripped off).

The only change to the law I’m interested in is the ability to grow (a reasonable amount) at home. I hear they make great companion plants for tomatoes.

Growing your own will get you weak stuff compared with what’s grown hydroponically in a grow room.

          speak for yourself 😉

The internet is a wonderful place for tech savvy folk. At the risk of admitting to anything… since there isnt anything to admit to…
One could easily source the parts…. PVC tubing, a water pump, LED full spectrum grow lights (sips power and generates no heat)… for under $200 (im guessing) to make a neat little 2-plant hydroponic grow system that fits…. say, in a 5ftx5ft plywood box.

my tomatoes and home-brew are quite good. cant be THAT much of a jump.

          • Alby says:

Sure, if you’re experienced at it, that’s the way to go. But if you plant it outside with your tomatoes, you’re going to get a lot of buds going to seed.

Growing pot isn’t hard — there’s a reason it’s called “weed.” But growing potent pot is a good deal harder.

              practice makes perfect 🙂
Of course, it’s not something everyone can MASTER, but it IS something many people can be pretty darn good at. When it’s legal for me to take up as a hobby, I’ll make sure I report on my progress.

Id never grow outside… pests and kids and shit. There IS however a small stream somewhere in NCC that has been getting lots and lots of seeds tossed around it the past few months.

              • Alby says:

Have it your way. I just see no reason to duplicate the efforts of people who can do it better.

I used to grow tomatoes, but I found that mine didn’t taste as good as the ones I can get at SIW, and I don’t have to erect deer fencing to buy them there.

It’s a different story if you can’t afford to buy it, of course. If that were the case I’d look into it myself. Actually, I have, and it seems like a lot of trouble considering the uncertain quality of the finished product.

Why fuck around with all that when, in the places where it’s legal, you have your pick of numerous strains?

The joy of craftsmanship and improving a rewarding skill. Why learn to play music when you can pay to hear it? To each, my friend. To each.

              • Alby says:

When you’re my age you’ll understand not wanting to put in years of practice at something that’s easily purchased.

I am an avid gardener, but I prefer to grow what I can’t buy instead of what I can.

              • ben says:

                heh.
When I’m your age I’ll have a decade or more experience under my belt at it 😉

Anyway, i dont think that’s an age thing.. i think that’s an individual choice thing. I know a few geezers who still enjoy picking up new hobbies.

In any case, it’s generally a good idea to pick up as many basic proficiency skills as possible. Especially indoor growing of ANYTHING. We’re probably 10 years away from massive famines and dustbowl like conditions all over the world.
skilled in-door producers of plant life will be valuable.

lol, the clueless …..just because you can’t doesn’t mean people with a public school education can’t do it cheaper, better, and with less hassle than the dopey regulated industry can makes me laugh at you Alby. Can you even change a gasket in a faucet?

              • Ben says:

Meatball, don’t shame. People who know how to do shit need people who don’t know how to do shit. Vital source of supplemental, or primary income. Especially once the nation collapses.

              • Alby says:

I didn’t say I can’t. I said it isn’t worth the effort when I can buy it from someone who does it better.

Tell you what, let me try yours and I’ll let you know if it’s better than what I can buy.

              • ben says:

tell ya what. once it is legal for me to grow…
Gladly. The only thing i like more than putting time into a craft is being able to share it with others.

Maybe we’ll be at the same 2024 watch party to see President Ivanka magically elected with 70% of the vote to a magic 3rd term.

              • Alby says:

Sounds good. I’ll cook. That I can do better than what I can buy.

I looked into Medical Marijuana a few months ago to treat Arthritis pain in my knees that can only be solved, otherwise, by replacement surgeries. The requirements were insane. I would have to prove that all the pain doctors in town would’ve had to check me out and that I was somehow unable to deal with the opioids and, two other types of treatment. That’s also complicated by the fact that opioid prescriptions have been really cut back due to that crisis.

Jim, I cant find the lit to back this up,

but check again. Im pretty sure they modified Right To Try to expand access to medical. Im pretty sure it passed house and senate, so unless Governor Narcy McNarc-pants killed it, I think you can get an RX pretty easily now.
