Odessa Shooting Triggers NRA Snowflakes

Filed in National by on September 1, 2019

The bodies of the dead in Odessa Texas were not yet cold when NRA radicals took to the Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence FB to post up some shopworn NRA talking points.

Why offer the same failed prescriptions to address these concerns? Laws are being broken – additional laws only restrict the liberty of the law-abiding.

This is the “nothing works, so let’s not do anything” go to.

They de-funded mental health services years ago, and now we don’t have the tools to identify and treat people who may be a danger.

This ignores the fact that the NRA has recently blocked efforts to keep the mentally unstable from getting guns.

…how long will law abiding gun owners keep voting for these people in Delaware who want to punish us instead of Criminals.

This is the NRA’s “we’re the real victims” line. The commenters doesn’t explain how any law abiding gun owner “punished” by not being allowed to own Browning 50 caliber machine gun? Similarly how is anyone “punished” by not being allowed to own high capacity magazines and other military equipment? How are drivers “punished” by taking a driving test to get a driver’s license?

Common sense gun legislation being proposed in Delaware only “punishes” gun owners intent on killing large numbers of elementary school children, and people attending church services.

  1. John Carney could have called the General Assembly back into session to address the failure of the State Senate to even consider gun control bills. He didn’t. To make it worse, he suggested that supporters of the bills would have to compromise.

He still can call them back. But, unless his ‘budget-smoothing’ concept is in deadly peril, he won’t.

Worst governor of the modern era, and that’s saying something.

This is what I tell people when they ask me about safety in Mexico:

In the US, there are 120 guns per every 100 people.
In Mexico, there are 12 guns per every 100 people.

In the US there are 51,438 retail gun stores.
In Mexico there is 1. Yeah, that’s right, one (1) (uno), in the entire country. And it’s run by the Mexican military (Directorate of Arms and Munitions Sales).

If a Mexican wants a gun, they smuggle them from the U.S.

Hence the saying – Poor Mexico. So far from God and so close to the United States.

    • Dave says:

Yeah, I forgot about that saying. So very true.

We become more uncivilized every day. The preppers have the right idea, for the wrong reasons.

If Nicole Poore stopped trying to impress the republican members of the Delaware city fire hall and actually focused on the democratic base we may get gun reform in this state

  5. Paul says:

I’ll have more respect for those who staunchly defend their 2nd amendment “rights” when I hear an equal number and weight of utterances by them about responsibilities. Until then, they are adults parading around in diapers.

  6. Paul says:

Nicole Poore’s diaper would need to be a two-piece, of course.

That Texas governor is an idiot….watch his press conference. Dude should be impeached.

After El Paso, it was discovered that the governor had made a fund-raising appeal the day before that shooting, referencing immigrants: “If we’re going to DEFEND Texas, we’ll need to take matters into our own hands.” Mr. Abbott’s language, like President Trump’s, eerily reflected the killer’s racist online screed. Unfortunately for Mr. Abbott, his letter was discovered just as he arrived in El Paso again to conduct one of his invitation-only “roundtables” about gun violence — all he’s ever done despite the mounting body count.
