Coons Getting a Primary Challenge

Filed in National by on November 17, 2019

Chris Coons has been working hard at provoking this primary challenge.

Chris Coons, the corporate-friendly Delaware senator and Joe Biden ally, will get a primary challenger in 2020, according to a Federal Election Commission filing.

Jessica Scarane filed her statement of candidacy last Thursday and will formally announce her candidacy on Monday. Scarane spent most of her career at tech startups; she’s currently a business analyst at the Archer Group, a digital design and marketing company. She also serves as the board president of a statewide nonprofit in Wilmington called Girls Inc., which provides mentorship and support for teenage women. Scarane graduated from Syracuse University in 2006.

Careful what you wish for, Chris.

Yeah. This is not a drill.

The Highlands Bunker podcast will be recording a special episode today on location from Scarane for Senate campaign launch HQ. Hope to be able to drop it for you all tomorrow.

Coons’ supporters are not Democrats and don’t live in Delaware. They are twice excluded from voting in the primary. From what I’ve already read about Scarene, this could really happen.

But beyond this one race, remember it isn’t about one election. This is a movement. Elections are a thread in the fabric of ongoing activism.

  5. God DAMN, I’m psyched!
