I listened to Adam Schiff’s closing speech last night, and thought of this song — not just the title, but the sense of regret and resignation Rick Danko expresses so eloquently. Centrists, moderates, whatever you want to call the people who want our politicians to get along and work together — they need to understand that the days of collegiality are over, and they’re not coming back.
Nobody could sing this like Danko, but soul great Solomon Burke gave it a good shot.
