Coons put praying with Trump above literally everything

Filed in National by on February 17, 2020

I’ve often said that Coons put the National Prayer Breakfast above all other responsibilities and concerns. I honestly had no idea how right I was.

This is the most self-aggrandizing, cloyingly pious thing I think I’ve ever read.

If you can, try to read it all to find out just how important praying with Trump is to Coons.

Coons,

I know you are reading this, so I’m speaking directly to you right now. You like proof-texting in order to excuse your behavior, so check out what Jesus actually says about prayer your fetish.

Mathew 6:5

That verse is one you probably encountered at Yale and have long since ignored. Give it a read. Pray on it.  See if it squares with your mania for public displays of piety.

Read this closely and you’ll realize that the examples set by Chris Coons’ parents — mentoring a furloughed murderer, taking in a refugee family — really put to shame his own example of praying with and for Trump in hope that he would change Trump’s heart. His parents’ actions were bold; his own was timid, but he wants credit for bravery because he knew he’d be criticized for it.

Your parents didn’t just pray, Chris. They took action. What action have you taken? Prayer is not action.

    • Jesus H. Christ says:

“What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

I especially liked the unnamed Republican who decided Coons was someone he could work with. As is it he deserved some credit for the exchange.

Yeah, Coons. That bridge building with anonymous conservative loons is really paying off!!!

Here is another very dishonest thing about that cloying essay. Coons keeps saying that it is controversial that he wanted to pray “for” Trump. That’s horse shit on its face. It isn’t controversial at all that Coons prays “for” Trump. He can pray “for” Trump all he wants in his room (as the Bible instructs (Matt 6:6)).

No. For Coons it is clearly about praying WITH Trump. Coons gets off on being in the mix. The notorious Alfalfa Club, the Prayer Breakfast, Morning Joe it is all part of Coons’ starfucking.

Coons’ emphasis on praying “for Trump” is just a lie. A big fat lie at the heart of the the most sanctimonious essay in the history of The Washington Post.

  4. Mel Slawik’s liver says:

God doesn’t hear you unless you pray loudly in front of other people.

Coons knows that God likes a good show.

In times like this I ask myself, “What would Jesus do?”

Then I serve everyone a glass of wine but tell them that they are really drinking my blood.

BTW – That third guy up there is James Lankford (R-Okla.) He led the faux outrage campaign against Adam Schiff, describing himself as “visibly upset” by Schiff repeating a comment about Trump putting heads on pikes if they voted to convict Trump.

So basically this is a picture of three lying motherfuckers deep in prayer.

Atheism, and give ’em all the finger. For Christ!
