I will try to contain my anger today. I mean, Trump is one thing. But trying to write this the day after the Eagles had the worst draft night in the history of the NFL is quite something else. Not to mention, binge-watching Breaking Bad does little to curb my worst impulses.

(Deep cleansing breaths). ‘Now vee may perhaps to begin. Yes?’

A Tale Of Two Shitty Presidential Campaigns.  Joe In His BasementTrump And The Rethugs In Quicksand. Read the second one. It’ll make you feel better.

AutoNation Shamed Into Returning SBA Funds. They got anywhere from $77 mill to $95 mill. Boycott them, boycott Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, and boycott every one of these slimy publicly-traded billion dollar companies that stole money from needy small businesses. Here are some firms who refuse to give the money back.  And keep the banks who steered this money to these firms out of the distribution network:

The $3 billion firm, which is publicly held, had 26,000 employees in 18 states before the pandemic. AutoNation used separate tax identification numbers assigned to dozens of its more than 300 locations to apply for at least $266 million in funds for separate dealerships, including Jaguar and Land Rover of Bethesda, Porsche Orlando and Lexus of Cerritos, outside Los Angeles, according to the documents.

While other large companies including restaurant chains Ruth’s Chris and Shake Shack have received funding from the SBA program, AutoNation stands out due to its size and value. Because the agency has refused to release data on which companies received loans and the amount of those loans, it’s impossible to know whether even larger companies received funding from the program.

BTW, look who’s angling for a payout: Payday predatory lenders.  I love how the article refers to the support as ‘bipartisan’ when the two D supporters are perhaps the least Democratic D’s in the entire congress.

Everything Falls Apart, Ctd.  US. Global905,333 confirmed cases and 51,949 deaths in the United States. Wasn’t it just a few weeks ago that Trump was patting himself on the back for keeping deaths under 60,000?  We’re poised to blow past that mark next week.

Trump Goes After The Postal Service.  Hey, he thinks he can destroy Amazon (sadly, nobody can, or will) and destroy mail-in voting at the same time. Presumably the postal service is merely collateral damage.

Critics Call For Implementation Of 25th Amendment.  A few yahoos in the sticks can get coverage for their meager protests, but the press can’t at least cover a burgeoning call to use the 25th Amendment?

More Evidence Surfaces On Tara Reade Allegation.  I know that many people just want to see this go away. It’s inconvenient. But, if true, we should be looking for another candidate.

Climate Science Deniers At Forefront Of Downplaying Pandemic.  Alternative facts, indeed. Know your enemies.

Florida Isn’t Florida Anymore.  Really good background piece on how the Florida of today became the Florida of today, and why it’s in limbo. A perfect weekend read.

All Inmates At Vaughn And Sussex Correctional Centers To Receive Face Masks.  This release went out after midnight on Saturday morning. Where’s Claire?

More (And Less) On The Forced Resignation Of The Food Bank Of Delaware President And CEO. I understand, the timing of this sucks.  I think everybody loves the Food Bank of Delaware, one of the most vital organizations in the state. But, at some point, the story behind the story will have to come out. If, for no other reason, than to reassure all of its supporters.  Doesn’t have to be right now necessarily, but soon.

What do you want to talk about?
