Coons is a bad Senator and Would be a Horrible Secretary of State

Filed in National by on May 21, 2020

Unless Joe Biden is looking for a blood-thirsty Secretary of State who has a longterm lease on a condo in Benjamin Netanyahu’s ass – Coons would be a terrible Secretary of State pick.

Also, Jess Scarane is right. If it is true that Coons is going to be Biden’s pick the head up the State Department he is running for his Senate seat in bad faith.

Recent reports say that Chris Coons is being considered as a Secretary of State nominee.

Delaware voters deserve to know whether Chris Coons will serve out his Senate term before casting their ballots in the September primary election.

I’m calling on Chris Coons to confirm that he will serve out this 6-year Senate term if elected, and refuse a presidential appointment if it’s offered to him.

If he cannot commit to that, then he should drop out of the Senate race. Delawareans have the right to know that their vote matters. They should be confident that the candidate they vote for will actually do the job if elected.

  1. Joe Lieberman’s pick for SOS? That alone is reason enough why Coons shouldn’t be either SOS or senator.

Every Netanyahoo in America kisses Coons’ perfumed ass in that piece.

    Yes, a must-read.

At least Coons would be out of the Senate, and his sinecure in representative politics would be ended.

    • So. LBR would likely ascend to the Senate, and we’d have a primary for Congress.

She’s a marginal improvement over Coons, so it might work out.

The bad news?: Coons’ mug would be on TV even more.

Let’s look at the big picture here. Coons as SOS would mean that Trump is no longer POTUS. I’ll take that deal any day. Anyway, let’s hatch our eggs first.

In general I wouldn’t want to take any safe Dem out of the Senate. Coons may be the exception to my rule.

  5. mediawatch says:

No problem with taking safe Dems out of the Senate, because they’ll almost always be replaced by another Dem.
Don’t see LBR as a significant improvement either. She’s a CarperDem.

That said, I’m not impressed with Jess’s attention grab here, suggesting that angling for secretary of state is a disqualifier for a Senate run. Go back to 2008, when Uncle Joe was on the ticket for both VP and Senate. Don’t recall any whining then (from the D side, anyway) that there should have been a different candidate for the Senate.

    • I really really like Jess. I hope that, as she moves forward, she expands her message beyond just going after Coons.

She has a potentially strong and positive message as to what she will do as Senator. She’s already wrapped up the anti-Coons D’s. But that’s not enough to win a primary. Expand your message, broaden your base.
