Leaked Stonewall Endorsement Questionnaire Puts Pressure on Republicans to Come Clean

Filed in National by on June 2, 2020

This in via the tip line:

7. While Delaware Stonewall PAC is non-partisan and is willing to endorse and fund
candidates of any party, or no party at all, we are very cognizant of the fact that the
presidency of Donald Trump has rolled back many of the rights of our community and, if re-
elected, he will likely continue to do so and appoint federal judges who may very well
overturn precedent that have recognized the rights of our community. How you vote is a
private matter, however, will you pledge to not support the re-election of President Trump and not support candidates for office whose platforms are opposed to LGBTQ rights?(emphasis added)

It is a little squishy for me, but it is something. If this goes unanswered by the lying GOP scumbags like Mike Ramone and Anthony Delcollo, then I would think it would be impossible for Stonewall the repeat the endorsement mistakes they made in 2016.

That is an easy question for Ramone and DelCollo to answer “yes” to. Too easy. They have nothing to lose by answering yes, and no one will hold them accountable if they go against a “yes” pledge.

The cynical part of me (who am I kidding, that’s the only part) says it’s a softball question set up to allow Republicans to answer Yes.

I hope not. Ramone and DelCollo risk losing the idiot base of the GOP if they come out against Trump. If it is so easy to say that they don’t support the re-election of President Trump, why haven’t they said it?

My understanding is that Stonewall not only makes its endorsements public, it also makes the questionnaire response public. Back when I was involved in Sussex, I know there were a few Democratic candidates in southern Delaware who answered the questionnaire supportive of LGBT rights and then went the other way when in office (Bob Walls comes to mind) or held Stonewall checks until after the post-election filing deadline Rob Robinson was won when he ran for the House in a special election against Ruth Briggs King. I would think that any Republican who states they will not support Trump risks losing their base if the questionnaire response becomes public.

It is news worthy if these lying scumbags say they do not support Trump. And voters in the district should know if they are still supporting Trump.

And for the record, no response is support for Trump.
