It’s Official. Russia Offered Bounties For The Killing Of US Troops In Afghanistan. The Administration knew about it for months. Biden gets it right. What passes for Trump’s defense? This:
In a statement late Saturday Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said he had “confirmed that neither the President nor the Vice President were ever briefed on any intelligence” related to a Russian bounty, and that all news reports “about an alleged briefing are inaccurate.”
Never briefed? About Russia paying for the killing of US troops? What, exactly, would rise to the level of requiring a briefing if not this? Time for Trump to forbid the military from voting by mail.
Trump Team Nixed Social Distancing At Tulsa Event. Removed 12,000 ‘Do Not Sit Here’ stickers from seats in the 2/3rds empty arena. Sad.
The Filibuster: A Monument To White Supremacy. Time to get rid of it. Right, Chris? An excellent article–you’ll learn something, and the argument will engage you.
Maureen Dowd Nails One. Effectively sums up 50 years of Rethug fear-mongering, and details why Trump can’t use the same playbook.
How Leaders Failed To Control Virus. The latest hot spots: All of Florida. Weber County, UT.; Yavapai County, AZ.; McDonald County, MO.; northern Mississippi and western Tennessee look like part of the same piece, all red and orange.
What do you want to talk about?
Delaware covid cases doubled yesterday to 74. Carney is doing ok, IMHO. But imagine the shape we’d been in of that dummy Colon Bonnini was governor?
Doubled? They actually went down from 95 new cases to 74 new cases. Yesterday it was 70 new cases. Yes there was a very low 26 back a few days ago.
The “percent positive” number though is slightly trending up, probably a worrying statistic. Over 4% is okay but not very good.
In national roundups we’re listed as plateaued.
There’s a certain kind of asshole — Matt Taibbi is perhaps the most notable journalistic voice among them — that insists Russia has nothing to do with Trump’s victory in 2016 and, by extension, is not a malign actor in world affairs.
Our most notable adherent to this mistaken position is banned, so I can’t hear how he would dismiss this controversy. But I’m sure he would.
Interesting piece about when the Democratic Party lost its way, and it’s not when you probably think.
