BREAKING:Five State Legislators & One Sussex County Council Member Using Their Government E-Mail As Campaign Contacts

Filed in Delaware, Featured by on July 16, 2020

That’s, um, illegal.  A major tip o’ the El Somnambulo sombrero to our tipster in this case.  But you can see for yourself. Just do as I did: Go to the Department of Elections website and scroll through the list. You might find someone I missed.

The miscreants?:  Sen. Bruce Ennis, Rep. Steve Smyk (two ex-cops right there),  Rep. Ronald Gray, Rep. Daniel Short, Rep. Timothy Dukes (he only follows God’s law?); and Sussex County Councilman Michael Vincent.

Likelihood that any legal authority will do anything? 0.000000 percent.  The Delaware Way triumphs over the rule of law.

Not an excuse, but Ennis communicates through telegraph and carrier pidgin. He probably couldn’t tell you his electronic mail address.

  2. Del says:

In fairness I don’t think some of these guys know how to work email….not even joking

  3. If Lumpy Carson and Dave Lawson can figure it out, then ANYBODY can figure it out.

  4. Alby says:

Well, Ennis and Smyk are easy to explain: Laws don’t apply to cops.

Those of you with the negative comments are ridiculous. The LISTING AUTHORITY is the Dept of Elections. Why did they allow it if it was illegal instead of requesting legal information? This article is stirring the proverbial political pot and y’all fell into it. A simple call or notification from the agency that AUTHORIZED the candidate to file could have prevented this. You’re probably right in that they wouldn’t know better but the LISTING AUTHORITY should!

    • Jason330 says:

Yeah. Elected officials should be able to do illegal shit. It is one of the perks of the job, right?

    • Alby says:

“Why did they allow it if it was illegal?”

Why don’t you ask them? My guess is that it’s not their job to alert lawbreakers about their lawbreaking, as candidates are expected to know the rules themselves. You apparently don’t care, and think that because they’re morons they should be let off the hook.

“This article is stirring the proverbial political pot and y’all fell into it.”

Fell into it how? By pointing out that what they did was illegal? And why are you so eager to cover their asses? Were you busy kissing them?
