Two Years Ago Coons Bragged About Funding Trump’s Goon Squads
Senate oversight, Coons-style.
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, secured funding for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the nation’s fire services, and the U.S. Coast Guard in the Homeland Security appropriations bill, which passed the Senate Appropriations Committee today with bipartisan support.
“Securing America’s borders and keeping our communities safe is a never-ending task,” said Senator Coons.“I’m particularly proud to have secured critical funding for Fire and SAFER grants as well as the U.S. Coast Guard in this legislation. Congress must ensure that the Department of Homeland Security has the tools it needs to respond to the evolving threats, and this bipartisan bill does just that.”
Trump’s Goon Squads didn’t suddenly appear as if by magic. They couldn’t exist without Coons’ incurious, obsequious bipartisanship.
Hi,
If you follow my Coons posts, (and I know you do, lowly Coons staffer, or why else would you be reading this comment) you might think that I hate bipartisanship. I don’t.
I hate Coons-style-bipartisanship. I hate that your boss is constantly negotiating from a position of weakness. Bipartisanship itself is no sin. If you believe in representative Democracy you know that it is built on a system of contention, deliberation and compromise.
Coons chucks out the contention and deliberation and races to give everything away to Republicans at all times. Coons isn’t “bipartisan” so much as he is a collaborator.
As you work for Coons, don’t allow yourself to be duped into thinking that you are helping fulfill some noble mission. I know a little flame of justice still burns in your heart. That’s why you got into politics in the first place. Don’t let that ember fade. The country needs you.
“Has Coons’ heroic GOP ass-kissing campaign ever swayed a Republican to change his/her vote?”
Still time for the 3 yes voters to back up their vote with an example. I’m sincerely interested in being proven wrong, if I am wrong.
They can’t talk with their lips on Coons’ backside.
