Trump Thugs Literally Rewrote CDC Covid Guidelines.  Then dropped it onto the CDC website. One more independent government agency destroyed.

NJ To Approve ‘Millionaire’s Tax’.  If they did, we should be able to.  The impediment, I suspect?: John Carney, although he might be more receptive to it than Markell was.  But I think the new General Assembly may have the votes to do this. C’mon, guv, you know we need the money.

Ex-Administration Aides Endorse Biden.  Olivia TroyeJosh Venable.  This is the way to do it. Not in a book you’re saving for after the election.

Some Good Election Legal News For D’s:  Pa. Supreme Court Deals Triple Blow To RethugsFederal Judge Temporarily Stops Post Office Slowdown.  Due to a ‘politically motivated attack’ on the USPS. The Pennsylvania rulings are huge.  Absentee ballots to go out as soon as they’re printed.

Trump Nixed USPS Plan To Send Masks To Key Covid Hot Spots. Hey, more Covid deaths were preferable to ‘causing a panic’.

Meatpacking Industry Wrote Executive Order Requiring Plants To Stay Open.  Talk about outsourcing…

Trump’s War Against Universal Mail-In Voting Has Failed.  That’s why his new message is ‘The election is rigged’.  His dismissal of early voting is a political gaffe of monumental proportions. Texas is the lone key holdout.  Only a matter of time there, though…

NCC FOP President Rips County Council.  Accuses council of ‘dividing police and the community’.  No. The FOP did that.  Endorsing Trump was a big FU to the people they’re sworn to protect.

Ray Seigfried Says What He Really Thinks.  While I voted for Larry Lambert, I retained a lot of respect for Ray.  I’ve just lost quite a bit of that respect.  From the linked article:

“They may have this ‘it’s my way or the highway’ attitude, and that’s not helpful,” said Rep. Raymond Seigfried, D-Brandywine Hundred, who lost his primary on Tuesday. “That will simply add to the chaos, similar to what we have in Washington. We don’t need that here. We really don’t.”

Wrong.  A first-term legislator lamenting a challenge to the Delaware Way?  His lopsided loss to Larry was well deserved.  Especially when ‘my way or the highway’ applies to Speaker Pete and Our PAL Val far more than to any progressive legislator.

The Powers That Be don’t seem to understand that changing the clubby, cliquey way the General Assembly operates is the whole point of progressives challenging the do-nothing Democrats so common in do-nothing Delaware.

    • If there has been one consistent thread during my 11 years or so of blogging, that’s it.

Hey Ray as a guy soon to be your Ex constiuent , Don’t let the door hit ya in the ass!

El Som- I know you’ve discussed this somewhere in the comments, but a full post on how Leg Hall leadership is going to pan out would be great.

that the right people are shitting pants right now and I’d love to hear more about that.

    • WAY too early, especially for the Senate. There are three, maybe 4, races that will determine the makeup of the Senate. The one prediction that I CAN make is that there will be a new President Pro-Tem. The current one lost.

Also REV put together a great post election panel. Well worth a listen.

    • That’s an excellent wrap-up. Personal to Jordyn Pusey: I apologize for any negative remarks I sent your way. You’re my kind of progressive.

      • Jordyn says:

It’s all good. Just remember that my lukewarm reception to an establishment Dem does not equal love of Republicans! And don’t forget to donate to PDD and DU so we can continue to challenge the status quo.

The state police are throwing everything they’ve got at tracking down the dastardly demons who viciously THREW EGGS at pro-Trump protesters.

    https://www.wdel.com/news/police-release-image-of-suspect-vehicle-in-milltown-political-rally-egging/article_d937db48-f8f4-11ea-99de-d3ed4eb23459.html

Any guesses on how much effort would be expended if it had been pro-Trumpers throwing the eggs?

    • Kennedy says:

Something seems odd about this. I totally understand the desire to throw eggs 🙂 But, the logistics for this don’t make sense to me. The plates on the vehicle are from PA so they, for some reason, knew about the rally and were motivated enough to come into DE to throw eggs. Or maybe they coincidently saw the rally then made an extra stop to pick up eggs (because why would they eggs readily available?) then double back to the rally to to throw eggs.
I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy goon but I hope it turns out that it was a hoax setup to get some last minute attention before the primary.

      • Alby says:

Intriguing. I must admit I hadn’t looked that closely at the details, I was just surprised the cops would put this much effort into apprehending egg-tossers. Hell, I used to get my house egged all the time because of stuff my wife wrote and I never thought to call the cops.

Could it be that somebody saw a FB notice or something about this gathering and went off that?

        • Kennedy says:

Maybe but those are some very politically minded 20-something males to want to miss week 1 of the NFL so they can throw eggs at dipshit rally in another state.

          • Alby says:

OTOH it’s a very short drive from Pennsylvania to Milltown, especially if you’re going to Total Wine.

I’m not doubting your suspicions. They’re well within the realm of what we now consider normal.

BTW, most of the young males I know who are into sportsball are more likely to watch soccer.

            • Kennedy says:

Good point about the Total Wine because that’s a hotspot for PA to load up. And I love their craft brewed eggs. 🙂
I’m an Ultimate Frisbee guy myself but Football is much more fun to gamble on than soccer. BTW: I just watched the Witzke video of the incident, and lets not forget about what’s really important here. That those poor sad kids, with egg shells still in their hair, were forced to wear a Witzke shirt at her rally and then were used as props in her video.

      • puck says:

How come if you run the red light at that well-camera’d intersection they send a ticket to your house, but if you throw an egg they have no idea who you are?

Is the published photo lower resolution than the actual photo?

        • Alby says:

That doesn’t look like the angle from the traffic camera. I wonder if it’s a store security image from that strip mall nearby.

  5. GeoBumm says:

Anyone want to log into that WDEL comment section regarding the post alluding to the candidate who favors defunding the police? I refuse to create a FB or Twitter account. But seeing people post obviously misleading comments makes me want to reconsider that position. Yeah, I know, play stupid games; win stupid prizes. Anyway:

    From Reuters Fact Checking
” Biden has in fact resisted demands from liberal activists to defund police departments, instead proposing a $300-million investment in policing, contingent on officers mirroring the diversity of their communities.”

    • Alby says:

Probably not worth the effort. I can tell you from personal experience that most stories on that web site get no more traffic than our daily open thread.

      • GeoBumm says:

Good to know. My relationship ended with WDEL when they fired their morning guy a couple years ago. Too bad, as a kid WDEL was the go to for school closures on snowy days (circa 77 – 80). Ah well, that’s not much of a thing anymore anyway. -Cheers

      • John Kowalko says:

Your right Al so I’ve decided to repost my comment re Legates on the WDEL page to this site. Rep. Kowalko

        John Kowalko
Legates is an uninformed charlatan and grifter who is an embarrasment to real science. His false claims, accusations and hypothetical ramblings are being given exposure because the current occupant of the Whitehouse has chosen to promote the same unscientific reaction to the crisis facing our planet. Your station has chosen to give its own tacit approval of Legates’ propaganda via Rick Jensen’s fawning and factless interview of this climate change denier. Jensen’s interviews and programs have been a constant regurgitation of the Fox, QAnon, anti-facemask viewpoint and your stations refusal to even attempt to offer a counterpoint speak volumes to WDEL’s failures. I have paid for political ads to be aired on your station in the past but I will no longer consider supporting such a twisted agenda of misinformation that your station promotes through the likes of Mr. Jensen. Eleven requests for money today from various members of the rethug upper crust. Up ’til now I had been responding to these requests with a not so polite FU, but that seems to be encouraging them. So from now on, I’m going to be deleting those requests without opening them. So, rethugs, if you’re seeing this, don’t waste your time (and mine)!

p.s.: Rep. Kowalko, you are a breath of fresh air. Wish I could vote for you!
