Cathy Cloutier: Astonishingly Inept
No, don’t take my word for it. You simply must watch this League of Women Voters forum featuring Cathy and Kyle Evans Gay, and Sarah McBride and Steven Washington. While watching, keep in mind that, of the four, Cathy is the only one to have held elective office…since 1999. 21 years. OK, now watch the debate. If you are as astonished as I am that anyone who has held office that long is so devoid of any ability to talk issues or to provide a reason to vote for her, share with anyone you know in SD 5. She almost, almost, makes IPOD refugee Steven Washington look senatorial in contrast, (although his constant ‘rebuttals’ only tell us that he has no idea what a rebuttal is):

I think she’s checked out. They’re running a campaign w/o a candidate now.
I saw Kyle this AM doing a Covid-safe meet and greet with Krista Griffith. Great turnout, great conversations. I think we are going to win this one.
I agree. She ran a dominant grassroots campaign for the primary, and she just hasn’t stopped. If you watch the LWV forum, you’ll see that she and Sarah McBride have already formed an alliance. Add in Marie Pinkney, who is just incredible, and the opportunity for real progressive leadership in the State Senate is right there.
In fact, I think one of the sleeper issues for the leadership battle will be a demand from progressives that, whether by Zoom or whatever, a full Senate session is embraced. No more of doing as little as necessary. There’s a lot of work that has been pushed off.
Cloutier obviously has some organization behind her. Got a push poll for her on my cell phone from something called Your-opinion.org, with the usual “Who are you going to vote for” opening followed by lies about Kyle’s positions and then “Will you vote for Cloutier now?” Vile stuff.
I suspected as much. Nobody that out of it is running because of a fire in her belly.
Most likely the party pressed her to run again because they knew they couldn’t win an open seat, and she’s too non-confrontational to say no.
