Democrats still outnumber Republicans, but registration trends favor GOP

Filed in National by on October 11, 2020

I googled up some voter registration stories to make myself feel better about the next 23 days. It didn’t work.

The Trump campaign and RNC have now registered 100,000 new voters in the 2020 cycle, more than doubling their numbers from 2016, according to new Trump Victory data provided exclusively to Axios.

If you’re talking about the Pittsburgh TV station article about Pennsylvania registrations on the Google page your link leads to, you might go back and read down to this sentence:

It’s not all bad news for the Democrats. Statewide, Democrats still lead Republicans by 717,000 voters. …

Otherwise, just a quick scan of the headlines on that Google page shows that Republicans are up in some places, Democrats in others.

Perhaps if you stopped looking for any slight reason to feel bad you’d probably feel better.

    Registrations don’t mean dick.

I registered Republican for years, because when I first moved to Hockessin it was overwhelmingly Republican, and it allowed me to vote against irredeemable dipshits like Son of Clatworthy (look him up).

In many parts of Pennsyltucky, the Republicans are the only game in town, so it just makes sense to register GOP if you’re actually a center-left Dem. Those same people have been voting R for years; who gives a fuck how they register?

Only a sap registers with a party because “oooh, they stand for me.”

Further evidence: Look at all the center-right Republicans who are now registering D in Delaware because there’s no point in registering Republican. They can’t even stop the party from nominating the Lauren Witlesses anymore.
