Song of the Day 11/8: The Four Seasons, “Walk Like a Man”

I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard the Trump campaign tried to get these guys to perform at that infamous Northeast Philly press conference. They didn’t show because they went to the Four Seasons hotel by mistake. Also, too, the song describes something else Trump can’t do.

Like most of the group’s string of hits, it was written by producer Bob Crewe and pianist Bob Gaudio, and in March 1963 it became the third to reach No. 1. It was recorded under difficult circumstances — a fire broke out on the floor above the studio, but Crewe didn’t pull the plug on the session, despite water seeping through the ceiling, until the fire company broke down the locked door with axes.
