Biden’s All-Female WH Communications Team: Not a Sarah Huckabee Sanders or Kayleigh McEnany in the bunch. Not to mention Sean Spicer, who does not deserve mention. Also, some encouraging nominees for his economics team, with one contentious pick.
Between 800-900,000 Absentee Ballots Requested For Georgia Runoff Election. With more to come. Y’know, the Election Day weather for the January runoff is almost guaranteed to be less hospitable than those ideal November 3 conditions. The early vote could be even more decisive. (We’re still the underdogs, though. If you can get involved, do it.)
Trump’s 11th-Hour War On Immigrants. He’ll stop at nothing to destroy their lives. And to destroy DACA.
Post-Presidency Trump May Not Be ‘All That.’ I tend to agree here. I remember former Philly Mayor Frank Rizzo hosting a talk show on WCAU Radio, fielding calls from the same dead-enders day after day. It was, wait for it, sad. The Incredible Shrinking Autocrat.
Help Is On The Way. Moderna’s final efficacy rate is 94%. Both Moderna and Pfizer will likely have doses available in December.
Governor Limits Delaware Food Courts To No More Than 100 Customers At A Time. Good. To all you scofflaws out there: You do not have the ‘liberty’ to wantonly place others’ health at risk. Go home and get sick. You deserve it. You’re all idiots.
Why Can’t Protestors March On Market Street? If you’re looking for a definitive answer, this by-the-numbers article won’t provide it. To me, it’s more proof that Buccini/Pollin runs the city.
What do you want to talk about?
Bad link on the Market Street story, but it’s also unavailable unless you’re a subscriber. What’s the Cliff Notes version?
Link fixed. The story mostly asks the questions, doesn’t provide answers. Except there’s a note that Buccini/Pollin has its own security force. Here’s the fair use version:
One of the most-trafficked stretches of roadway in Wilmington’s downtown – by both cars and people – is the 11 blocks of Market Street from Martin Luther King Boulevard to the north end of Rodney Square.
It’s home to most of the city’s downtown restaurants, The Queen music venue, multiple museums, apartments and other businesses both small and large.
For Wilmington’s leadership, the stretch is a point of pride, the new restaurants and businesses a sign of Market Street’s revitalization.
For some of the city’s Black residents, Market Street is just another color barrier. The density of commercial and residential activity make it an easy target for protests and demonstrations…
But multiple times this year, as protests and demonstrations against police brutality and racial injustice have become common, Wilmington police officers have denied protesters access to Market Street.
Seems to me it’s time for the protesting community to gather in large enough numbers to deny the police the ability to deny access.
I keep seeing reports of people in ICUs claiming they don’t have COVID because it’s a hoax.
Simple solution: Deny treatment to anyone who claims they don’t have COVID. The problem will soon take care of itself.
Good story for Green Energy nerds about Illinois Rep. Sean Casten, a former clean energy executive. Key quote: “We have a PhD level problem. And Congress is at a 6th grade reading level.”

At some point I suspect the Republicans will move to silence the Trump lovers, the reason is, as ever, money and power. It is their primary motivation. As for the Republicans doing as much post defeat damage as they can it’s a product of a party likely to be in a permanent minority and a 200 year old and failed electoral system. As for COVID yes I know people in the hospital with it and others that live in fear of it. Me included.
I disagree. The base is the republican party and I just passed a bunch of them along side the highway on the coldest day of the year waving trump flags and anti-covid signs. My own rep admitted to me there is no going back. He had tons of pro-trump rhetoric on his campaign page and was handily re-elected 60/40.
It’ll get old. They’re the same assholes who were parading around in tricorn hats 10 years ago, minus the ones who’ve passed on and now register their litany of complaints with authorities in Hell. They were with us before, they’ll be with us always. They’re the people who don’t want government to help them, they want it to stop helping other people.
They’ll eventually move on to whatever demagogue their media barfs forth up next. If you’ll recall, before Trump’s emergence they couldn’t come close to a consensus on which of the 16 dwarfs would carry their standard. I don’t expect it to be any less settled now that Trump is damaged goods. The cult is only so many people; a big part of what’s considered the base, the Xtians, could be easily manipulated into backing someone who’s a holier roller.
Making it more interesting is Limbaugh’s upcoming departure from this mortal coil and Trump’s attacks on Fox. Long-term, Trump needs Fox more than Fox needs Trump.
Again, my Rep told me that their polling shows no going back to any sort of “reasonable” republican as if that kinda unicorn actually exists. He’s going for the trumpers, that’s how he staves off a primary. Obstruction and rhetoric in a Biden administration is the goal. This is way different than the tea party. Who are they gonna back? Romney? Some sort of McCain republican? Even Reagan wouldn’t fly in the base today. Biden ain’t gonna be able to do shit. I side with Ben, the country is fucked and the election results are what changed my mind.
Polling is ephemeral. Might hold for his next election in two years, but let’s see where they are then
None of his changes the fact that we’re fucked. And I never said anything about reasonable Republicans. There aren’t any. I’m saying that the slack-jawed folks you’re talking about will find a new avatar eventually. They always do.
Paul Krugman was on the Rachel Maddow Show tonight, and he said he likes the entire Biden economic team. Primarily b/c there isn’t a deficit obsessive among the bunch.
If Krugman likes ’em, I like ’em.
