Not everyone watches Fox News, but everyone lives in an America where 24/7 bashing of Dems by Fox News invades into the cultural zeitgeist. To some extent, it really doesn't matter who wins the Dem nomination - the Dem nominee will be vilified and hated by at least 49% of Americans by the time the election gets here. (That 49% includes your nice but dumb in-laws who really have no critical thinking skills to speak of.) This should come as no big to surprise to anyone. It is what they do.

In a belated attempt to distance himself from his Azar confirmation vote, Coons has signed onto letter to Alex Azar expressing "serious concerns". This is a lame attempt to try and bury the fact that he helped the GOP install a man who: - has said that health sector profits must be protected during this crisis, - has attacked the ACA, - has defunded the CDC, and - who now admits that he makes national health policy decisions framed by fear of how Trump will react. Coons' letter is a fucking joke. Don't read his letters. Look at his votes.

Alex Azar isn't reporting real case numbers for fear of angering Trump, but Johns Hopkins has an interactive map.. But even Johns Hopkins is grossly under-reporting cases as Chris Coons' buddy continues to cover up our appalling lack of testing kits. Coons has stated that if rich white men are left alone, they can solve big problems. But if this is the best Yale Law, and the Alfalfa Club can produce, maybe it is time we start looking elsewhere for leadership?

If you ever need proof that Coons has the same fucked up worldview as Trump, just wait five minutes. Coons will unleash some Trumpist sounding doozies on 'Morning Joe', at a Notre Dame Law School panel, or in this instance speaking at AIPAC.

That Coons voted for Azar because they were friends at Yale Law is merely despicable. That Coons continues to defend Azar is an outright scandal.

Wars, natural disasters, public health crises – these are the moments when people need to be able to trust that their government is working well, working for them, and telling them the truth. But as the American people prepare for the threat of a coronavirus pandemic, the Trump administration has challenged that trust on a number of fronts.

One immediate step that President Trump must take to restore that sacred trust is to fire Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar and replace him with a public health expert that the American people can have faith in.

Here is why this is such a critical first step: with Secretary Azar, we never know if he is working in the best interests of patients and public health, or if he’s focused on the needs, interests and profits of the pharmaceutical industry.
