Song of the Day 2/15: Space Cadet, “Bad Luck”
With apologies to El Som, I actually hear other new music once in a while, though not nearly so much as he does because I’m so technologically inept. I’m so old-school I actually heard this song thanks to my email — I always had my work inbox routed to my personal one so I could work from home (I was an early adapter on that front), and I’m still on some promotion companies’ mailing lists.
I don’t know how many bands are still working in the ever-shrinking jangle-pop niche, but this one combines the sunshiny LA pop of the Monkees with a touch of ’90s Brit pop angst. The members are veterans of post-punk bands of the ’90s and ’00s; the only one I had heard of was Bouncing Souls.
See what you think.
I discover new bands in typical Dad fashion – when they are featured on NPR.
