I naively thought the GOP would be glad to move beyond the box office poison that is Donald Trump, but nope. Fealty to Trump is THE organizing principle of the Republican Party now and through at least the mid-terms if not longer. It makes no fucking sense to me.
Cheney is now truly on her way out, so that looks like the last Republican who sounded reasonably sane when talking about America being a democracy.
She may be out of the “leadership” of the party but is a long way from defeat, hoping she keeps it up and the magpies of the media keep paying attention. There will come a day when Trump is gone, at which point the party will either wither and die or get a new direction.
