You don’t have to wear a mask, wash you hands, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, or basically be a decent human anymore.  Although, why not try it for once?

As Delaware ends state of emergency, health officials warn COVID is not gone

After Gov. John Carney lifted Delaware’s state of emergency Tuesday, he and top health officials urged residents not to get too complacent, because the coronavirus is still around — especially the Delta variant, which is on the rise worldwide.

Paul Baumbach finds that humanity and decency is a tough sell in Leg Bargain Basement.  Maybe if the terminally ill scraped together enough money to engage some scumbag lobbyist?

Delaware aid-in-dying bill reintroduced

A bill that gives end-of-life options to terminally ill patients was introduced June 30, the last day of the legislative session, and will be waiting for action in January when the General Assembly reconvenes.

House Bill 140 would allow a mentally sound adult working with a physician or registered nurse to request and self-administer medication to end the adult’s life. Sponsored by Rep. Paul Baumbach, D-Newark, the bill is the latest of several attempts he has made to pass the end-of-life option since 2015.

His Death with Dignity bill never made it out of committee in 2015; his End of Life Options Act in 2017 never made it to the House floor.

In BLASIUS INDUSTRIES, INC., v. ATLAS CORPORATION, (1988) Delaware Chancery created the legal doctrines shortened to Blasius.  It states that that directors who act with the primary purpose of interfering with a stockholder vote must have a compelling justification for their conduct.  I had to look that up because this is the best headline related to the Elon Musk testimony happening in Wilmington.

Elon Musk’s Testy Day in Court Is Interrupted by a Vomiting …

Elon Musk’s day in court took a bizarre turn on Tuesday when an attorney vomited in the jury box, forcing the court to take a recess. Musk is being sued by shareholders who say the Tesla’s acquisition of SolarCity amounted to a bailout because Musk oversaw the 2016 buyout despite having a financial interest in both companies. The plaintiffs’ attorney, Randy Baron, alleged that Musk set the price for Tesla to purchase SolarCity, a claim Musk has denied. His nine-hour testimony ended on Tuesday afternoon—but not before a member of the plaintiff’s counsel vomited and halted proceedings for two hours.

I haven’t followed this Wesley/Del State thing, but I did learn that this is the first time a HBCU acquired another higher education institution. That’s something.  I also learned that the new acquisition is going to be trimmed back to health oriented programs and called “Wesley College of Health & Behavioral Sciences”.    That’s pretty cool, I suppose.

Delaware State University finalizes acquisition of neighboring Wesley College

What was Wesley College, a 148-year-old private institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church, is now the Wesley College of Health & Behavioral Sciences within Delaware State. The college will offer programs in allied/public health, kinesiology, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and social work.

Here are some architectural renderings of what the capped downtown interstate in Dallas Texas is going to look like.

For the record, architectural renderings of what “urban renewal” projects are going to look like which feature kids holding balloons give me knot in my stomach. These don’t fall into that specific cliche, but don’t stray far from the spirit of it.

That Kathy McGuiness thing came out last month. It’s a joke. All it does is whine about the billing practices of the company the state contracted with, and basically advocates for mom-and-pop pharmacies — the kind Park City Kathy used to own. There’s no recoverable money there.

A Dominoes franchise ranks #10 in restaurant grants? That guy has a great accountant.

As someone with a terminal diagnosis, I don’t intend to wait for legislative approval before I “die with dignity”. It is really ridiculous we cannot get this passed.

    • Alby says:

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

      • AQC says:

Thank you. Death does not look imminent but it will eventually kill me. I think until people face the reality that life ends in death, we will never get meaningful legislation passed around dying with dignity.
