Our “health insurance” system has been nothing more than “employees can’t leave” insurance for employers. Even with that cudgel aimed at their heads, millions of Americans are saying “fuck this shit” and leaving their crap jobs.
As pandemic life recedes in the U.S., people are leaving their jobs in search of more money, more flexibility and more happiness. Many are rethinking what work means to them, how they are valued, and how they spend their time. It’s leading to a dramatic increase in resignations — a record 4 million people quit their jobs in April alone, according to the Labor Department.
If you are one of these Americans looking for meaning flexibility and/or happiness I salute you. Here is the same story as above but from Al Jazeera.
Workers in the United States are quitting their jobs at a record pace.
The latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey – JOLTS – from the US Labor Department showed that the number of Americans quitting their jobs jumped to 4.3 million in August. That is 2.9 percent of all employed workers in the US, marking the highest quits rate on record.
The Virus has acted as the catalyst for workers pushed to the edge by the usual cruel and hopeless version of American capitalism. Coupled to the usual “Back to work slave!” mentality of American management the result may well be American labor flexing it’s muscles and downing tools. I hope so as we will need it to fend off the Republican party coming out of the Fascist closet.
Here’s some good news that appeared to mostly slip through the cracks https://twitter.com/mikebrickner3/status/1448071643964878852?s=21
Seaford is backing off (for now) on an ordinance dealing with abortion restrictions.
House maps are STILL not posted. Wonder if they’re hastily drawing Becca Cotto out of the 6th…
STILL not posted…
Up now!
38 and 4 in Sussex are winnable!
Cotto left in!
Do you think there would be any support for a Delaware Statehood movement, so we could get some representation in Washington DC?
That’s good.
The 38th is winnable. Really??? The most conservative part of the state.
The closer to the beach the more the D’s have a shot. There is a virtual straight line not more than 5 miles from the beach from the Indian River to the state line its definitely winnable!
