Well said to say the least! Have to say Witzke is the best political lunatic this state has yet produced, and as ever is powered by “Gawd!”. Notice no matter how many of them get sick they still won’t get the vaccine. Not Complaining.

If she lost her senses, it must have happened a long, long time ago.

Am I the only one who wishes the News-Journal would put as much energy and people into covering state and local government as they do into high school football?

No offense intended to athletes, but do we really need pre-game previews, rankings, live tweets, live-streaming, post-game video interviews, best-athletes-ever profiles, and stories to wrap it all up, while calling in freelancers and photographers to add to the swarm?

And we get maybe one story a week from the lone state government and politics reporter.

High school football should be defunded, period. As a taxpayer I’m not happy about paying to cause brain injuries and toxic masculinity.

And while no offense to the athletes, lots and lots of offense towards the adults who make money off of them.

Don’t these Christians believe that this Jesus they love so much is the result of an impregnation of a woman in a sexless marriage by something they refer to as God? Who even thought of this in the first place and how did anyone ever fall for this?

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
    Isaiah 7:14

There are a couple of passages in the Bronze Age Hebrew myths which Christians site as predicting the human birth and divine nature of Jesus. Of all the bronze age nonsense that humanity outgrew, it is odd that this bit of nonsense held on.

Imagine we could revive a well-educated Christian of the fourteenth century. The man would prove to be a total ignoramus, except on matters of faith. His beliefs about geography, astronomy, and medicine would even embarrass a child, but he would know more or less everything there is to know about God. Though he would be considered a fool to think that the earth is the center of the cosmos, or that trepanning constitutes a wise medical intervention, his religious ideas would still be beyond reproach.

There are two explanations for this: either we perfected our religious understanding of the world a millennium ago — while our knowledge on all other fronts was still hopelessly inchoate — or religion, being the mere maintenance of dogma, is one area of discourse that does not admit of progress.

That’s from Sam Harris’ in his 2004 book The End of Faith.
