FBI May Shut Down ‘Use-Of-Force’ Database Because–Police Won’t Cooperate:
In an attempt to create a definitive database on how often police officers use force on citizens, the FBI launched the National Use-of-Force Data Collection program in 2019, imploring police departments to submit details on every incident, not just fatal shootings. But the failure of police and federal agencies to send their data to the FBI puts the program in jeopardy of being shut down next yearwithout ever releasing a single statistic, a new report by the Government Accountability Office says.
The Washington Post began tracking fatal police shootings in 2015 through media reports and information from police. The Post has found roughly 1,000 fatal shootings per year, more than twice what was being reported annually to the FBI through its Uniform Crime Reporting system.

In blunt remarks to the Senate Republican Conference, Graham harshly criticized McConnell for putting Senate Republicans in position to get “shot in the back” over the deal.
“Mitch McConnell just folded on the Debt Ceiling, a total victory for the Democrats — didn’t use it to kill the $5 Trillion Dollar (real number!) Build Back Worse Bill that will essentially change the fabric of our Country forever,” Trump said in a statement released through his political action committee.

It is the longest-running — and by one estimate, the largest — U.S. oil spill ever recorded, a contentious saga that prompted a recent “60 Minutes” segment.
It’s been an environmental nightmare for the region — but a massive tax bonanza for Phyllis Taylor, the owner of Taylor Energy and the fallen rig.
According to ProPublica’s analysis of a secret trove of tax data, from 2005 to 2018, Taylor took in some $444 million in income, most of it from wages, interest, dividends and capital gains, and didn’t pay a cent in federal income tax.
That’s in significant measure because she was able to transform money her company was compelled to spend cleaning up the oil spill into a perfectly legal nine-figure tax write-off for herself.
A Delaware Rarity: Out-Of-Control Cop Identified. Make that ‘ex-cop’:
A former New Castle County police corporal has been indicted after police say he used excessive force during the arrest of a 16-year-old girl at the department’s prisoner processing area earlier this year.
Michael Carnevale, who police said retired from the department prior to the end of this investigation and before any disciplinary action could be taken, was indicted Monday on misdemeanor charges of offensive touching, official misconduct and falsifying business records.
The investigation into Carnevale’s actions began on Aug. 31 after a fellow officer witnessed the excessive use of force and reported it to a commander, county police said.
Does he get to keep his pension? I mean, because he retired before any disciplinary could be taken?
