Peter Navarro, who served as trade adviser to former President Donald J. Trump and who fought with government scientists while helping to orchestrate the administration’s coronavirus response, is refusing to respond to a congressional subpoena for documents, telling lawmakers he is following a “direct order” from Mr. Trump not to comply.
“Your blanket refusal to comply with the subpoena in its entirety is improper,” Representative Jim Clyburn of South Carolina, the committee chairman and the No. 3 House Democrat, wrote to Mr. Navarro in a letter the committee made public. He added: “It is abundantly clear that you possess information responsive to the subpoena that is not covered by any colorable claims of executive privilege.”
Some things never change. Dragging everything out in court will forever be a key part of the Trump playbook. Wonder if the Last Guy will pick up Navarro’s legal expenses…

Under the PowerPoint plan, Trump was to declare a national emergency, citing foreign “control” of electronic voting systems, and then all electronic voting would be rendered invalid. Then-Vice President Mike Pence was to install Republican electors in states where Trump allies would baselessly declare that “fraud occurred,” according to the maneuvers outlined in the plan.
The new information revealed by Meadows underscores the danger of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley told colleagues that he feared a “Reichstag moment” after Trump lost the election, referring to Adolf Hitler’s power grab in 1933.

Even Politico Sees Dark Time Ahead For Rethugs. Assuming, of course, that we have legit elections moving forward:
The Republican Party has dug itself a hole with regard to young, educated voters. Although Americans under 30 are less likely to vote than their older counterparts, they are a rapidly growing proportion of the electorate. Gen Z Americans, a cohort that includes today’s college students, now make up almost a quarter of the nation’s population. They are in line to be the nation’s most formally educated generation, with higher high school graduation rates and lower dropout rates than earlier cohorts.
Young, educated voters have favored Democratic candidates for decades, but the gap has grown much larger than before. Most revealing, perhaps: The survey showed the Republican Party has become directly associated with racist, unconstitutional attitudes that strike most students as beyond the pale. They perceive Republicans as a threat to their own future, and democracy in general.
