One year later – how do you feel about democracy in America?
See the poll on the right side of the page. I’m curious to know what you guys think. But a little more curious to know if anyone on the bleaker side of the question thinks there is anything we can do to save it.
It’s fine. Apparently to Democrats, specifically liberals, we have a “democracy in crisis” because candidates they don’t like or agree with somehow manage to win a lot of elections, and we have Senators who for some reason don’t vote for legislation that 60+% of their constituents disagree with.
Can you tell me the percentage of the country by population that the 50 Republican Senators represent relative to the percentage the Democratic Senators represent?
Can you provide polling numbers in West Virginia and Arizona on Medicare for All and the large infrastructure plan?
I think its about 55-45 D v R maybe? In any case it is irrelevant. The Founding Fathers of our great nation, despite being old white men, knew a thing or two about history and why pure democracy does not work.
WVa is about 60% against Build Back Whatever, not sure about AZ.
Founders Fetish. Whatever democracy we don’t have it’s OK because a small group of syphilitic slave-holding aristocrats who thought blood-letting was the height of medical advancement were the greatest geniuses the world has ever known. We can’t conceive of anything better. Great arg, dude.
The only good founder was Thomas Paine.
Medicare for all would be a lot more popular if by “all” it meant citizens of the US and was tied to draconian immigration enforcement.
Given my age, I think the poll needs a fifth option:
It will limp on for a while longer but won’t die until after I do.
Like it! Hope to be elsewhere when it happens, but biting the big one is certainly an option at my age.
