Carney Does Something Right. Endorses paid family leave. A skeptic would question how much of that endorsement is/was a recognition that Sarah McBride is fast becoming the most popular politician in Delaware. Did I say Sarah McBride? You must read the article to which this is linked. It defies belief:
Carney offered his support to Senate Bill One in his State of the State speech on Thursday.
“Sen. (David) McBride has introduced legislation that would build on the work we’ve done for state employees and extend paid leave into the private sector,” Carney said. It’s the right thing to do – and it will make Delaware more attractive for younger workers. I’d like to thank Sen. McBride and Rep. (Debra) Heffernan for their leadership on this important issue.”
That Dave McBride. Always looking out for the powerless from his stately Lewes manse…
More Proof There Was A Plot To Overthrow The Election, Starring Rudy Giuliani:
On Dec. 14, 2020, the day of the electoral college vote, Republican electors convened in the capitals of five states that Joe Biden had won. They declared themselves “duly elected and qualified” and sent signed certificates to Washington purporting to affirm Donald Trump as the actual victor.
At the time, the gatherings in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin — all states that had officially approved Biden electors — were widely derided as political stunts intended to bolster Trump’s baseless allegations of fraud.
The Trump electors gathered in plain sight, assisted by campaign officials and Trump attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani, who said publicly that the rival slates were necessary and appropriate. Internally, Giuliani oversaw the effort, according to former campaign officials and party leaders who, like some others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations. One of the people familiar with the plan said Giuliani was assisted at times by an anchor from the right-wing network One America News.
In ways that were not publicly known until months later, however, the rival slates were leveraged as evidence in last-ditch efforts to give Vice President Mike Pence the ability to reject Biden’s victory when he presided over the electoral vote count in the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Great article. A must-read.
Olympic Sponsors ‘Ghosting’ Chinese Treatment Of Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hong Kong. Because teaching ‘the World to sing in perfect harmony’ precludes shining the light on a repressive country that just happens to be hosting the Olympics. Yes, I’m talking about you, Coke:
Their first opportunity to get a substantive response from the Olympics’ corporate sponsors came in July when representatives from five IOC sponsors—Airbnb, Coca-Cola, Intel, P&G, and Visa—were called before the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, an independent government agency that monitors China.
At the hearing, every company reiterated its commitment to human rights; they all even cited the same United Nations “guiding principles” on business and human rights. But only one company, Intel, even mentioned the Chinese government’s repression of Uyghur Muslims in its prepared statement. Everyone else avoided the issue, instead simply affirming their support for athletes and reminding the commission that sponsors have no say in selecting the host city. Members of Congress, who form part of the commission, were not pleased.
Wilmington City Council Passes ‘No Confidence’ Vote On Police Chief. As usual, it was a cluster-bleep. Read the article, it captures the ineptitude of Council quite well.
A Fitting Meat Loaf Anecdote. I don’t blame him in the least–Fergie was hot.
What do you want to talk about?
That Andrew said, ‘You can’t touch me. I’m royal.’ is entirely believable.
“You got to go see those women turn it on!”

He was brilliant in Baskets.
I didn’t think anybody else watched “Baskets.” Good show. Very weird, too.
