Song of the Day 2/3: Aoife O’Donovan, “Passengers”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on February 3, 2022

El Somnambulo did not include anything from Aoife O’Donovan’s new album “Age of Apathy” in his January new music roundup, so I’ll plug it here. O’Donovan gained attention as frontwoman for the Boston-based neo-bluegrass outfit Crooked Still. This tune doesn’t sound like Crooked Still — more like Belly-era Tanya Donelly, which is more than OK by me. Give it a spin.

  1. I’d figured that a song from her new album would be on the music roundup, but the ones I heard didn’t jump out at me.

Clearly, my process isn’t fool-proof, as songs that could sound better each time I hear them sometimes get lost in the initial shuffle.

  2. Jill says:

Very nice, easy listening, like it a lot. New artist for me.

  3. If you like her, also check out Crooked Still, Sometymes Why, and I’m With Her. Crooked Still in particular deserves shout-outs. What an amazing ensemble!
