Trump-Incited Coup Attempt ‘Legitimate Political Discourse’, According To Rethuglican Party. Censures Cheney and Kinzinger while they’re at it. I know that Jason has posted this, but, if that doesn’t wake people up, then we’ll be living in a totalitarian state before the decade is out. It’s the only way that the shrinking white population can maintain control:
“Representatives Cheney and Kinzinger are participating in a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse, and they are both utilizing their past professed political affiliation to mask Democrat abuse of prosecutorial power for partisan purposes,” the censure resolution stated.
Cheney responded by posting footage of the riot and asking ‘Is this legitimate political discourse?’ BTW, no both-siderism from the press from now on. Unless totalitarianism is their goal as well.
Court Rejects Rethug-Gerrymandered Map In North Carolina. It’s been underplayed, but the courts are keeping the R’s in check for blatantly-gerrymandered redistrictings:
The Republican-drawn maps created last year would have given the party control of as many as 11 of the state’s 14 House seats ahead of what is expected to be a strong Republican election cycle. Voting rights groups argued in court that the maps eliminated competitive districts and were overall skewed for political gain. Democrats accused the other side of rigging elections as well as disadvantaging Black voters. In the map drawn by Republicans, Rep. G.K. Butterfield’s district replaced Black voters with rural White voters. Butterfield (D), who is Black, decided not to run for reelection, saying the plan was “racially gerrymandered.”
The order comes weeks after Ohio’s Supreme Court invalidated a congressional map drawn by GOP legislators, saying it violated a constitutional amendment that banned partisan gerrymanders. Then, in Alabama, a panel of federal judges ruled that a map drawn by the legislature did not meet Voting Rights Act requirements because it packed Black residents into one district. The judges said the Black population in the state warranted two districts where Black voters would have an opportunity to elect a candidate of their choice. The Alabama legislature has appealed the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.
‘Read The Room Buddy.’ Looks like newly-installed Va. Governor is already running for Veep. Who knows? Virginians might swing R in 2024 just to get rid of him. Do they have recall in Virginia? Let me check. Here’s the answer:
In Virginia, an officeholder can be subjected to recall with a number of signatures totaling just 10 percent of the votes cast in that official’s last election. Unlike in other states that hold recall elections when voters petition for a recall, the matter is sent to a circuit court judge to determine if the complaints should go to trial. Under current law, judges may also order a recall election but are not required to. Recall can be sought from the moment the target of one takes office.
In other words, finding the right judge is essential.
Amazon: America’s Fiercest Anti-Union Company. Replacing Walmart. They burn through the average employee in eight months. Governor Carney: Explain to me again why the State gives these companies tax breaks and financial incentives to grow their massive footprints here. Memo to the growing number of progressive legislators: Get rid of the FOIA-exempt ‘quasi-governmental’ agency that disburses these funds. It never should have happened in the first place.
