Tonight: It’s ‘Delaware Way’ Vs. Progressive Change

Does this sound like a candidate you could support?:

WILMINGTON, DE – Adriana Leela Bohm endorsed by Mary Ann’s List, Delaware Stonewall PAC, and several legislators for the Democratic nomination in the special election to fill the State House seat vacated by Gerald Brady

“We are excited Adriana is our first endorsement of 2022 and believe she will make a difference in Legislative Hall just like she has made a difference directly in her community,” Mary Ann’s List said in an endorsement post on the organization’s Facebook page. “She is a champion for equitable education and healthcare, leading numerous school board initiatives to increase Wellness Centers, bolster educator professional development opportunities and advocate for youth to have a seat at the table in policy and government.”

“Our Board was very impressed with Dr. Bohm’s long track record of advocacy on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Tara Sheldon, Stonewall Delaware’s Political Vice President, in a Facebook post announcing the endorsement.

Bohm said she was excited and honored to receive both endorsements, saying “Mary Ann’s List and Delaware Stonewall have led the way in promoting diverse candidates who support women’s and LGBTQ+ issues. We need more diversity at all levels of government, and I’m honored to be endorsed alongside so many wonderful past candidates, many of whom are now in elected office.” These endorsements come after several members of the General Assembly have publicly announced their support of Bohm.

Those legislators (and others) who have endorsed?:  Check ’em outTizzy Lockman, Sherry Dorsey Walker, Larry Lambert, Madinah Wilson-Anton, Eric Morrison.

Bohm said “Although I know this special election is only to fill the seat for a short time, there is a lot of important legislation on the line this year, and I’m truly humbled and grateful that so many current legislators want to work with me as their colleague in Dover.”

The special election is being held to fill the State Representative seat vacated by Gerald Brady, who announced his resignation on January 21, 2022. According to state law, the Democratic and Republican parties select their respective candidates for the special election.

The Delaware Democratic Party will select their candidate at a nominating meeting being held on Monday February 7, 2022 at 6pm on Zoom. The meeting is open to all registered Delaware Democrats, although only the 31 voting members of the 4th RD Democratic Committee can vote to select the candidate.

Bohm is seeking the Democratic nomination at the February 7 meeting. The special election will be held on Saturday March 5, 2022.

While I like Bud Freel better than some on here, he is the dutiful Delaware Way candidate, coming out of retirement to merely finish out Gerald Brady’s term.  Dr. Bohm is a dynamic progressive with a political future, someone who could help bring legitimate change to Dover. I, for one, plan to watch the meeting on Zoom tonight.  Let’s just see who is so subservient to the Delaware Way that they would deny the voters in their district the chance to have a genuine voice in their communities’ future. I won’t be the only one watching.
