Police Were Slow To Engage Because They ‘Could’ve Been Shot’:

Olivarez said that, while the goal for law enforcement during active-shooter situations such as the one this week in Uvalde is to stop the killing and preserve life, officers did not initially know where Ramos was located when they were shot at.

“At that point, if they proceeded any further not knowing where the suspect was at, they could’ve been shot, they could’ve been killed, and that gunman would have had an opportunity to kill other people inside that school,” Olivarez said.

Uh, logic isn’t necessarily my strong suit, but doesn’t the absence of police in the school give the gunman every opportunity to kill other people inside that school?

BTW, Clueless Governor Claims He Was Misled. By the cops, of course.  Texas, not Delaware:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said his earlier comments about the Uvalde shooting, in which he praised law enforcement for their response and argued the situation “could have been worse,” came from “inaccurate” information he was given from officials, arguing he was “misled.”

“I’m absolutely livid about that,” Abbott said during a press conference Friday.

Abbott said that during a Wednesday press conference, he had repeated information he was told by law enforcement officials, initially commenting on “their quick response.” Details around the shooting and law enforcement’s delay in stopping the gunman continue to prove Abbott’s initial comments, which touted officials “running toward gunfire for the singular purpose of trying to save lives,” wrong.

Cops lying?  That’s never happened anywhere ever before.

Is Every Alaskan Rethug AG A Pervert?  Well, the last two were:

A special prosecutor has charged Alaska’s former acting attorney general with three counts of sexual abuse of a minor for having sex with a 17-year-old girl he coached on a high school mock trial team in May 1991.

The charges were filed Friday in Alaska state court in Anchorage against Clyde “Ed” Sniffen, who served as acting attorney general from August 2020 to January 2021. Gov. Mike Dunleavy asked the Department of Law to appoint an independent investigator to review the case after the Anchorage Daily News and ProPublica first reported in January 2021 that a woman had accused Sniffen of sexual misconduct.

Sniffen replaced former Attorney General Kevin Clarkson, who resigned after the Daily News and ProPublica reported he had sent hundreds of questionable texts to a female colleague. In his resignation letter, Clarkson wrote, “I regret that my actions and errors in judgment in interacting with a state employee have become a distraction to the good work and good people working in the state’s and your service.”

The Uvalde PD is accomplishing what millions of activists have so far been unable to — showing Americans that the police are less often brave heroes than cowardly liars.

Will they now understand that their defense of police in cases like Michael Brown’s is based on lies? Doubtful.

Something to keep in mind: Police can lie with impunity because they have immunity.
